My dad was in the same unit as Stone (guy who wrote/directed Platoon), I remember watching this with him too many times to count, it was the one Vietnam movie he always said got everything right, albeit with some dramatization. The village scene and a few others would always get him emotional, and this was decades after he was over there, from what he said the movie downplayed how brutal and cruel it was in a lot of ways. There’s something bizarre seeing a Russian guy posting this. I always loved watching Russian war movies (and Russian movies in general, love Balabanov, speaking of my dad Danila reminded me so much of him) and comparing them to what I grew up hearing about with Vietnam etc. respect to you guys, nothing but the best of wishes to the Russian people.
