The sanctus is the best ever. But can be sang meditatively that how it was sung. I like the tone quality of the Benedictus soloists. I've trained This mass to over 10 choirs in Uganda. (East Africa)

Wow. I sang this Mass as a bass in the Kentucky All-State High School Chorus at Daviess County High School in Owensboro, Kentucky, January 13, 1973--which happens to be 45 years ago today! We were directed by Dr. James Ross Beane of Morehead State University. It was my junior year & I was blown away at how good a select chorus of folks my age sounded. Elsewhere on KZbin, you can hear recent versions of the All-State Chorus spontaneously sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" in the atrium of the Hyatt in Louisville!

I am SO looking forward to performing this mass in pur local main cathedral on Christmas Day. I'm so blessed to be allowed to sing in a great choir and be part of spreading the Good News.

I sang this Mass (alto solo) years ago with a small opera company. Now in hindsight young Wolfgang Theophilius (Amadeus) Mozart looks like he's plotting some mischief. I still love it and wonder what it would have been like to be a part of the original cast. Thanks for posting!

Sang this ages ago when I was at Carroll College (now University, I guess) as one of the selections for our tri-annual Europe tour. Suddenly tonight, I just had to look it up & listen to it (couldn't remember after 27 years -- Go figure!); thx for sharing this.

+Brian R After hearing years of fast executions of baroque virtuose music I think that Tempo is the best feature of the performances of Harnoncourt : the musical design is perfectly intelligible also in dense counterpoint. By this Tempo, everything becomes clear , the expression and dynamics emerge . In a fast execution it remains only the speed ...

+Riccardo Galli I guess my comment is only specific to the Kyrie. Just seems a bit drawn out. I like the way my parish does it at mass, just a slightly quicker tempo!

You have a parish that does this Mass? Like to know what parish uses treasures like this at Mass! Very fitting.

I came here to figure out what tempo I should have for my electronic accompaniment track. I am preparing a "Karaoke" CD for a school district to use as an audition track. The piece is marked "Andante." This seems pretty FAST for something marked "Andante." (The Kyrie)
