I started crying. I don’t understand why all these images are so terrifying to me. They all seem to lonely. Like you want to look behind you, and you end up spinning in circles. Like you want a wall to back into but there is none. That feeling of no one to comfort you

Hot Rat I think it’s so unsettling because of how empty they are, we have seen all the images before but never empty. There is always someone or something there. Like a chair, a bench, a car. Seeing them completely blank and empty feels so wrong or scary. Some are even scary because there may be a lack of lights in places where light is supposed to be. I hate it but It just sucks you in. And It’s like if there was people literally anything else you’d be able to walk into it or near it and feel like you aren’t alone.

For 2000s kids this is so “ours” cause we where presented this plastic, esoteric, man made world, with a touch of utilitarian reductions, in shapes, spaces and architecture. Like the fake promise of a stolen brighter future, sold for only $10.99 ! Everything is colorful, but blatantly square. Emptiness reigns various rooms, there is always something missing when you create a world devoid of a soul. Perhaps we are the soul, quietly enjoying the aesthetics, waiting for it all to come to an end.

Similar with my brother and I. There was a playground behind a nearby McDonalds that we would visit every day for almost five years straight. Always empty with vodka bottles and tobacco containers scattered around. But we spent nearly every afternoon there, playing pretend by ourselves or even just sitting on the swings and having long-ass conversations as the sun went down. It's a kind of desolate, but comfortingly familiar feeling. Like you can still go back to that place, but you can never go back to that time.

The darkness behind you in the corridor is only growing by the minute. “What a relaxing day” you think rain starts to drizzle down from the clouds and you get your coat on and walk to your parents. Their car is not there. They are not there. You walk home in the drizzling rain. It is rather relaxing. The school, illuminating the dim evening daylight, stands in its place as you slowly walk away from it to the freedom of the weekend.

Some of this stuff gives me an aesthetic dream state that I love, reminding me of an SCP I really like and an era I wasn’t alive for, while some form a strange lucid anxiety that practically manifests as an ice cold awakening, helpless to a crumbling reality that is only realized in some strange terrible form of sheer incoming unstoppable dread. Then some of it is just early 2000s nostalgia.

I’m replying to myself just to write down my own thoughts before I forget them, but I would love a nostalgic dream-scape trip like this. These pictures made me remember something that I don’t know if it was real or not (I can’t distance daydreams from reality btw) I was in a fairly looking normal house but after looking around I went to the second floor balcony and then up to the (nonexistent) third floor the entire room looked like a liminal space it wasn’t very clean and there was a small green spiral staircase that led to a small pink room I don’t know how long I stayed there but it felt like seconds my mom called me to come get lunch but when I found the room it was only 10:00ish (my mom cleaned houses for awhile and I know she cleaned that house because me and my brother took a bunch of acorns from the balcony and he remembers the building but not the room. I still to this day don’t know if I shifted, daydreamed or if it actually happened but that memory still haunts me with how odd that room felt I still remember the feeling of it

@Thatariesartist I remember something similar (well, not really, but..) So, I remember visiting my cousin’s house for a while, and the neighbors house had a porch that looked kind of like a greenhouse? So I remember going inside and just seeing an elderly lady there, and I swear to the deities that are believed in, we were having a conversation, she baked me warm chocolate cookies (I swear! I still have the taste in my mouth!) And I sat on the floor of her living room (she had only her rocking chair, and the livingroom was E M P T Y. the only two things were a TV and her chair) watching that little chinese girl cartoon (Ni Hao Kailan? I think?) I always ask my parents about that. They always say I’ve been dreaming.

@@yowaylmi593 Traumacore is a type of imagery that delves into the themes of abuse and trauma (particularly sexual trauma or CSA), though it's not strictly limited to physical or sexual abuse. Mental, emotional, and spiritual abuse are also common themes as it pertains to traumacore. It often draws heavily on childlike and angelic themes, done so as a means to try and reclaim their innocence. Traumacore in general tends to be more focused on trauma experienced in childhood, although adult trauma can also be covered. Many people turn to these images to help them cope with the pain they suffered in the past. While many people say traumacore isn't inherently an aesthetic, many of the images used in its photo or video edits are derived from other aesthetics. Traumacore is more of a type of art therapy or visual journaling for many people with trauma. It is worth noting that some people who have went through trauma and use traumacore have stated that traumacore is an aesthetic, (albeit a special kind of aesthetic) while others state that it isn't, since those without trauma may try to romanticize the experiences of traumatized individuals.
@hauntinglangdon3 жыл бұрын
sorry to say this but trauma is NOT an "aesthetic". personally i think "traumacore" is stupid. i have a crap load of trauma and don't turn that into an idiotic, "aesthetic".
@mp3.machine_gal1753 жыл бұрын
So, here is the physiology behind this :] These pictures are pictures of liminal spaces mixed in with noglista or weird /offputting objects. Those mixed together would make the dreamcore/weirdcore aesthetic. What are liminal spaces? Liminal spaces are places or works of art that have a feeling of loneliness. There's no main focus, and there's no one there. They aren't supposed to be noticed, and they are very uncanny. The backrooms are the most famous example of a liminal space probably. There are two types of liminal spaces. Emotional and physical. An emotional example is a divorce or the loss of a job. It's the disorientation between a ride of passage. A physical liminal space, to put it simply, is an unsettling transitional space. The so-called traumacore 'aesthetic' uses unsettling text next to the liminal space. Meaning it's used both the emotional and physical traits to make it scary. (TRUAMACORE IS NOT AN AESTHETIC, IT'S A WAY TO COPE WITH TRAUMA!!!) Our brains are hardwired to know the context. These pictures have no context whatsoever. When these places were made for something. And when they're not being put to use, they look uncanny and unsettling. For example, a school should have children in, so should a store. When it's abandoned, it looks disturbing. So if an airport that's abandoned, (could be in tact or not) It looks terrifying to you. Some liminal spaces include an empty parking lot, a house with all its furniture removed, an abandoned mall, a playground at night, an empty school, But an empty forest isn't familiar or strange because nature is typically abandoned. But when it's obviously artificial, you wonder why it's even there or why there's no one there. "That kind of stuff should be the background of a kid's show or something like that!" There's a word for this sort of stuff, it's called Kenopsia. Kenopsia is the eeriness of the place left behind. The lighting is heavily impacting these images. Unnatural lighting like fluorescent lights and street lamps. The void behind the images makes it even more unsettling. The artificial lighting is what makes it familiar. Some of the lightings is the same generated by an unprofessional's camera flash setting. Like cheap family-owned cameras. The familiarity also has a word, it's called Anemoia. The definition is " A nostalgia for a time you've never known. If they are similar to you, then you've probably been to a place that has the same items, or just similar in general. Maybe you've seen similar places from photos online as a kid. These places have a pattern, they're old. But not that old. If you were born between 90's-2000's these are probably familiar to you. Some examples and what they match up to: - An old mall, you've probably seen one like that on a show -The heavily edited and saturated unnatural backgrounds are like something you would see on a kids show -The empty rolling hills are like some default windows background. -Playgrounds, you've probably been to the following as a kid -slides -arcades -party rooms and so on and so on -maybe a sonic drive-through, - a gas station -images like the backrooms are probably empty storage rooms or offices It's very likely you guys are just unlocking memories you forgot until now. It doesn't have to be an exact copy, it just has the same atmosphere. They're familiar because it's the things that seemed unimportant to remember. Many of these photos are low quality that makes them even more nostalgic. The presentation also makes it matter. If these photos were in your regular feed, you'd probably scroll past them. But with the title, "Gateways that lead to an alternate reality" draws attention to the unsettling details. The music is important as well. Sometimes, they make the music noglistic as well as distorted. You might have heard something similar, for example, an 8-bit song that slowed down and 'ruined' to the point where it's unsettling. Or they distort the song too much, you can't even recognize it but it's still familiar. Now, weirdcore images. Weirdcore images usually include a lot of editing or there are unreasonable designs. The lack of context makes it unsettling. A weirdcore image would include stuff that might appear on r/crappydesigns if you really think about it, or it's just weird the way it was built. It's the offputting objects that make it creepy. Like a bunch of walls that have no purpose with windows that would have no use whatsoever. An office basement with very VERY little lighting, you would wonder why anyone would work there. Maybe that REALLY famous image of the indoor bath with the decaying walls and green-tined water with those REALLY weird pillars. You would wonder why anyone would even swim in there. Liminal spaces are more common than you think, you just have to search the right places. If you're looking to take dreamcore pictures, now is the perfect time since we're in the middle of a pandemic. So you just have to follow these rules (everything I mention above) to make your own. Happy dreaming everyone! Nick, OUT B)

Ahh the early 2000's, humming fluorescent lights emitting a ghostly white light, architecture designed by people who seemed to be a little to enthusiastic with the designs, being in facilities where you could only hear nearby computer towers humming as they continue running for 24/7, the deep, low and sometimes forbidding hum of the HVAC system, wack furniture that either looked semi futuristic or came out of a 80'd home, and that faint smell in a lot of buildings that they just smelled 60 years old
