As a native born in Taiwan, I would agree with Lukas more in terms of decent using Toilet etiquette for own convenience which is theoretically only the WC/ Toilet rooms inside MRT/ Bus/ Train stations, Museums, Department Stores in Taiwan are offering free Public Toilets. As for the toilets equipped inside Convenient Stores such as 7-Eleven, Family Mart, Hi- Life, OK those are privately owned and the personnel on duty in that convenient store has to clean the toilets as extra workloads unpaid for!

He is only talking about the major city in Taipei but in rural areas, the toilet is not consistently good.

@@alicestanley177, my experience is not only the toilets located inside the public areas or buildings (maybe also extended to privately owned convenient stores) in the Major city of Taipei but the (core and previously prior to expanded region) of others such as New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan and Kaoshiung cities are also with highly acceptable cleaning quality. Also the toilet equipped inside government buildings or infrastructure such as Parks, City Halls, Hall of City Councils, Hospitals, Departments of Firefighters, Police Departments Highway Rest Stops are all offering free Toilet service. BTW, you may Hereby please disclose the Toilet experience in the RURAL areas (of Taiwan) that you happened to observe not so well cleaned or even somewhat disgusting so that the public servers responsible for that indicated region have to work hard to improve the quality of toilet environment, etc.

There's plenty of time when people go into 7-11 and just buy stuff without using the bathroom. So for the few rare occasions that you need to go in and use the bathroom I think it's fine. During my visit back in May my cousin and I went to 7-11 to use the bathroom but then when we were done we wanted to get something to drink so even though we didn't plan on buying anything we naturally ended buying something anyways, lol!
The Metro ( subway) system ! Absolutely. Perfect ! Clean and quit so fast ! Especially in Taipei ! Capital of Taiwan 🙂 The best public transportation system !
