You can breeze up to my local dairy, buy a $2 chocolate bar, go to pay for it with EFT-POS, say: "Can I have $20 cash out?", *and they will do it for you. No ATM required*. The US doesn't have EFT-POS, which is just weird.

What I love about Dogen's humour is that it's so subtle, never on the nose. It's nuance that only the Japanese can understand.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Dogen. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Japanese most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head.

My closest convenience store has this super special product you can use to increase the taste of your food. Super simple, really cheap... basically anyone can use it. It's called salt. Not sure I pronounce that correctly. We don't really have this where I'm from. Gotta love Japan, right!

The raging undercurrent of sarcasm left me feeling somewhat attacked - especially the baumkuchen. The baumkuchen shop in Okinawa (where they make it fresh) was one of my all-time favorite experiences.

tbh for me the biggest thing for me as a tourist (late 2019 mid hagibis) was the trains, I hate driving and google maps makes figuring out which trains you need to take trivial, moreso if you can read the names. the one man'in densha kinda I accidentally encountered sucked ass but certainly an experience I guess.

I think people are more blown away with having that, food and anything that you might need in a hurry 24/7 and near your house. The video is sarcastic, but a lot of the points are valid. I went to Europe some months ago and just printing a document on a weekend was a headache

Doesn't Japan also have those machines where you can give it, like, 300 yen or something and then you push, like, 2 buttons and it just, gives you a piece of food? Its crazy how people can just, do that in Japan...

Totally loved this…this was me after returning from an Exchange Program in Fukuoka 40 years ago. My mom wouldn’t talk to me for like a month because I was so “everything is better there”. Thanks for bringing back such cool memories of my lameness…dead center on target!
