3:52 something I've noticed from watching footage is that guard does not come out as fast as side step when trying to cancel a move's animation. while easy to explain as both giving the same animation cancel I'm thinking it might be similar to eldenring/souls where every attack has it's own separate list of options after a move is done before each action can be performed. it's interesting because guard will almost always be the safest option but having s sooner means you can get more greedy for damage with more experience. but this is just me watching footage and assuming people are mashing jump or holding block after a move when maybe they are just waiting longer to press guard, it may just be certain moves that give you block as an animation cancel while other moves are the same, we'll see soon enough!
