I learned exactly the same vocabulary like you but i found some errata : Lingering(拼字錯誤) intricacy(錯綜複雜的)
As a Malaysian Chinese brought up in a 95% Chinese-speaking environment, I've been through the same in my childhood (well, teenage-hood too) Back then when China was not as economically great, most Bananas (Chinese who don't master their mother tongue) discriminated against other Chinese who don't speak English well. That's pretty common in urban areas in my home country. When I was 14, schooling in a Chinese private school, we had a weekly life skills workshop - girls usually in the kitchen, guys usually doing carpentry. One day, when girls needed a saw, I was assigned to borrow some from the guys' workshop. Apparently, the male trainer was English-educated, spoke almost zero-Chinese. When I greeted him at the door before entering, he couldn't hear me (I guess) as the machines were too noisy. Perceived that I was impolite, he took revenge by picking on every single grammatical and vocabulary mistake I made as I was politely putting up my request. He corrected me sarcastically in front of the class, interrupting me many times in each sentence to make the whole class laugh. Well, that was actually what motivated me to boost my English. As nearly zero Malaysians around me spoke English, I effortlessly adopted US/Au accent from the resources I found. I became someone who spoke bad English in a "high-class" (they said, not me) accent. I was then deemed a white worshipper - acts like a "gwai lou" (Caucasian) but can't master their language and culture. In fact, the "gwai lou" accent is my natural accent, and I need to "act" in order to sound local. Anyways, my English accent now finds me plenty of emcee opportunities. That accent stays while I am improving my English consistently (still not very good, but I can always script what I'll speak). All the best to all language learners and thank you, Torres for this video :)

I have the same feeling as you when I was 15ys old n tried to speak English in front of my friend, but they laughed at me as well because of what I said just now is incorrect and they didn't even correct my sentence... At that time I was like swear to god, I am going to stop speaking English with my other friends in order to avoid the awkward situation 😂😂, but when the time past, I started realized I should not care about them for those who laughed at me before, because they are bunch of people who stop you from moving. Now I speak English most of the time and I don't feel shame. Love your video so much ❤️❤️ keep it up I will always be with you Torres. I am from Malaysia

I had such bad experience like you before when I was 10. That time, I was interested in English for a sudden so I constantly speak in English but my friends and English teacher always laugh at me it is because my level of English is so low that I can even don't know what's the meaning of intelligent. I am sad and impressed that I swear to not speaking English again until my mom advice me.

I didn’t learn English well in primary school too, but for different reason. I feel like I was still naive in primary school. Like, I didn’t find any fun in learning and I just studied for the sake of it at that point in my life. I only found my passion in primary 6 in the light of puberty (prob ?). The beginning of secondary school was when I started taking study seriously (I didn’t pass all my exams in school tho coz I simply don’t have what it takes to do well in some subjects). Sadly, I’ve never been a good communicator. I was a shy, socially anxious kid, but I still fear public speaking, presentations and recording my own voice now as a teenager (almost an adult).
