about 11 or 12 years ago I was on livejournal and someone said 'hey y'all come see my cousin do his stand up' and I went because I was bored and it turned out it was this guy. I had no idea who he was, it was a tiny theater, hardly anyone there. I never forgot him. What he talked about I have remembered to this day, it was that good.

@@4m4n40 That’s a much larger conversation about how social issues are usually tip toed on media outside of the internet but I think that it’s helpful for the rest of late night/talk shows in general to provide opportunities for necessary conversations. Every host just wants to go viral but Conan actually makes an effort to have a conversation with his guests. The idea shouldn’t be to radicalize but to get viewers to conduct their own research and think about how their communities might be impacted.

How miserable ones life must be, when it revolves completely around concentrating on racism. Can’t we just see people as people, and judge them by their character, rather than continuing to stereotype one another, by telling others what they think this or that ethnicity does or should do and how you should perceive them and how they should perceive themselves? There’s always going to be racism. We just have to deal with it through the basic lesson of not caring what anyone looks like, and that we are all part of the human race. Not this ridiculous, recognize that this person is different from you because they look different from you, stereotyping BS, that’s actually working against equality. Tired of this crap.
@davidjustice40353 жыл бұрын
Black people life a lot of their life focusing on racism because it affects them. Racism should not be something that we just accept it is a problem that needs to be dealt with regardless of your worldview. We also need to acknowledge that ethnicity is also tied to economic standing which affects said minorities living conditions and makes their lives more difficult.
@samuraigundam00793 жыл бұрын
@@davidjustice4035 No ones saying that racism doesn’t need to be addressed,. I’m saying that racism is not addressed by constantly insisting that everyone must acknowledge everyone else’s ethnicity, and that we should always only see their ethnicity first, because of the erroneous assumption that their ethnicity defines them as a person. That’s more segregational, especially when you add in the ridiculous concept that someone being a different ethnicity than you means that you can’t possibly understand or know what that person is thinking, because they are not you’re ethnicity, as if simply being another ethnicity, means your brain and mind set are naturally different, which is absurd. Labeling activities as a “Black thing” or “White thing”, automatically puts an intellectual limit in ones mind, preventing them from forging their own path, by instilling fear that you are somehow not permitted, must stick to the stereotype your ethnicity is associated with and must only defend and have knowledge of, your ethnicity, or else you aren’t one of them. It is at odds with the idea that you can be whatever you want to be, and with the idea that we should not see color, yet we should still see and acknowledge perceived stereotypical differences, hence, a form of racism. It’s hypocritical, and harmful to us as a Human race. When someone like this goes out and constantly points out how other ethnicities are racist, and uses a few examples of racist people to give the impression that an entire ethnicity is inherently racist, or portray those above mentioned perceived ethnic stereotypical differences as inherent, we fail to see how we are all very similar, and true racists get lost in the shuffle, where they can truly cause harm. Morgan Freeman once said that he disliked ceremonies like the NAACP Awards, because he thinks that we should see each other as just people, and judge each other by our personal actions. He has said similar things multiple times, as a matter of fact, and I think that’s the right way to view each other. That’s my point. Don’t ignore racism, but don’t go around appointing stereotypical traits, making gross assumptions and making judgments about other ethnicities based on simplified preconceived notions, because that is also racist.

@@samuraigundam0079 No one is saying that because your ethnicity is different your brain is different. What they’re saying is that being a certain ethnicity comes with different experiences which shape you into the person you are. Also every ethnicity has its own culture and customs to say that we are all the same in that regard is truly absurd. What we need to do is acknowledge our differences and accept we are equal but different
@samuraigundam00793 жыл бұрын
@@davidjustice4035 I’m sorry, but that’s one of the most ignorant comments I’ve ever read. Being a different ethnicity does not mean you automatically have a different experience in life than any other ethnicity. You’re experiences in life aren’t tied to your ethnicity - that’s ridiculous. Just because your are of a certain ethnicity doesn’t mean it shapes you, or your view of life, and not every person of a certain ethnicity is going to be surrounded by the culture of that ethnicity, and even if you are, that’s doesn’t mean you have to be, or are, everything that ethnicity or culture represents, nor should that even be expected of you. To even think that of someone, is stereotyping someone, and that’s racism. You, as an individual person, has the right and the ability to be whatever you want to be, and like whatever you want to like. You shape yourself, and any one who tells you that you have to represent and act like what your ethnicity typically acts like is wrong. You are not your ethnic stereotype and you should never feel like you have to be. I don’t give a damn about my ethnicity, or any one else’s. It has no influence on me at all. I was raised to be my own free thinking person, which I firmly believe is the right way to live your life, despite what the majority in the media tells you, or portrays people as.
