Granted In this modern era, the concept of masculinity has evolved. It now embraces emotional intelligence; but we need tough men now more than ever that can make decisions with courage. Ethiopian masculinity, once a source of pride, has faced challenges in recent decades. We must acknowledge this and channel our frustration into positive change. Rather than softening our men, let’s redefine masculinity-directing it toward nation-building. In this cutthroat world, we need strength without losing our essence.

its funny how most of the comments are not about the biggest issue that you have talked about instead its about your language mnamn, any ways mental health is the biggest issue and you should do more episode than this cuz its deeper than this, try to invite some expert on it too.

U expect man and women to express emotions the same way. Why is womens expression of emotions the benchmarke, it may be good for women considering how they are but for men it is another thing considering how they are.

I'm gonna sound like I support the "ጎጂ ልማዳዊ ባህሎች", or like I'm old AF, conventional and suggesting we go back to the "old" ways, but try to read between the lines of what I say. I have a concern in such kinds of conversations. There's this thing called contextualization. I understand that I may be wrong, but I feel like your perspective is completely inclined to the western context and you want us to be like the western world. You completely disregard whatever potential knowledge and qualities we have here, like NOTHING exists, like we are at the Neanderthal age or something. I feel like you only see the negative in every aspect of the Ethiopian lifestyle and beat on it 24/7. Like you have all the knowledge in the world and u're above us all. I feel like you see something in the western world and want to superimpose it here, while there are these social qualities to yearn for. You guys said it yourself eko, women have these social things to express their emotions mnamn. I feel like there are many more similar things in our culture that help us get "emotional" intelligence and make the best out of our lives. I once had a conversation with a girl who thinks there are no healthy families in Ethiopia. Sure every family has its grey side, but her stance was that every Ethiopian family is toxic. And she was hell bent on not changing her views. You guys keep forgetting that our parents were less literate than we are. We are the most privileged generation in our nation and yet we obsess over what our parents and society "did" to us. Instead of saying, "Ok, that's the perspective of my parents and that's understandable." (But not in a degrading and demeaning manner!) We need to understand their point of view, be the bigger people and not judge them, rather understand them and move on to working on ourselves. Here is that I think we need from content creators like you. How should parents raise their child? How should children be raised so that they grow in every aspect of their lives - mentally, intellectually, physically and whatever-ally? (some guy literally asked me this morning in what activity he should engage his kids for ክረምት). For the youth demo, how can they consider bad things in their lives just as they are, learn from them and move on. what you're doing is good, but what I would change is the approach: from blaming the Ethiopian and praising the western to trying to integrating the Ethiopian knowledge and context and how the Ethiopian mindset can grow to fit and hopefully go beyond international. There are so many things that I wanted to say but just got lost in writing. If my writing sounds offensive and directed at you, my bad!

I personally don’t have an issue with them speaking either Amharic or English, or even mixing the two-I speak both languages better than they do anyway. What bothers me is when they try to diminish the richness of the Amharic language and act like it’s difficult to speak. I think it’s pretentious. It’s funny that in 2024, people are still trying to flex in English. 🤣🤣

For the record, I’m not leaving this comment to put you down or shame you in any way, shape, or form. Instead, I want to lift you up and encourage you to stay authentic because I genuinely believe you have the potential to create a great podcast. I love the dynamic.

00:04:20 dude dropped the dumbest argument of the week. The problem is not calling anxiety -> anxiety or failing to translate some medical, psychological, economical or religious words. The problem is using the phrase "the problem is" while you can say "ችግሩ"... That's what people on this comment section complain about always. That might not be a problem for people like me or you but there is a society that doesn't like that and they have a point. Am writing this cause the argument you constructed was so dumb and it has a fallacy called strawman. The question of the people was "why you using too much English?" And you were like "cause this terms doesn't make sense when they are translated..."... but hey, who asked about translating those terms? 🤷🏽‍♂... eh, maybe some people, but that ain't the main question. So please try to address that. Youse discussion was good, just saying you made a ridiculous point there and yeah, alfo alfo... Much - awkward - love to y'all ✌🏾
