This is yet another, low-budget, version of the “Rebirth / My husband had me killed after having me unknowingly raise his illegitimate child”-story with decent actors and a basic storyline. This version has a quite different start than usual. I liked this strong/adamant FL and supportive/loving ML. Towards the end there are some editing errors, but this is actually worth watching. SYNOPSIS - SPOILER ALERT!!! FL, the Mistress of the Marquis mansion for 20 years, was drugged and framed by her adopted son, her husband’s cousin (2FL), and her husband (2ML) for seducing another man (King Huan/ML) - leading her to be punished and attempted drowned in a wooden cage. Although her husband rescued her from the cage, the three of them later buried her alive in the wilderness. Before she died, he told her that he wanted to marry his cousin who was also the mother of his illegitimate son. The adopted son that FL unknowingly had been supporting and raising for many years, making him the number one top scholar. She died regretting using her dowry and whole life working hard for and supporting her scumbag husband and illegitimate family. Luckily, FL is reborn seven years into their unconsummated marriage, on the day her husband’s illegitimate son first entered the mansion. In her first life, her mother-in-law made sure FL chose the illegitimate son in a selection between two boys. But knowing how ungrateful and untalented he was, thus hating and framing her, FL decides to go against her mother-in-law this time. So, FL deliberately chooses the other boy, whom she knows is very talented and kind-hearted, to be the legitimate son of the mansion and makes her husband’s son an illegitimate son instead - much to her mother-in-law’s dismay. Things get complicated when her husband returns and brings along his female cousin under the guise that family matters require her to stay at their mansion. In all the other versions I've watched, the Marquis didn't have any power or money because his father spoiled his concubine and killed his wife and it was during a time when this was extremely frowned upon. Also he had promised the FL leads father (who was still alive) that he wouldn't never take a concubine. This one changes all of that so it makes the story have a lot of plot holes.

This rebirth almost feels like a waste for a few reasons: 1. THe FL can't protect her mother and she is threatened as her mother-in-law has imprisoned her. 2. She can't even manage to get divorce....all she know how to do is ''wait for me'. Although she manages to evade most of the framing by the villains, at times she is caught..which complicates things and put her in danger. As usual, it is another drama where FL has to rely on ML for revenge. She can't do shit alone. 3. Anyway, it is a good watch...it is just that I had high expectations since I had watched another film that had a FL with 'I dont negotiate with terrorists/villain' mentality.
