❅展覽介紹❅
虛擬實境中,空間定義了觀者的存在,而道路賦予存在意義。進入到毫無根據的虛擬世界中,觀者需要認知到從空間與自身的關係,自身的存在與尺度才得以建構。道路給予前進的方向,隱喻了作品的進展與目的,觀者在虛擬中的存在也就間接被賦予意義。若剝除互動、文本等額外的資訊,空間的符號性便會直接影響虛擬實境內的肉身、體感與沉浸。本次作品《第三人稱》由此概念出發,從空間、方向、量體等方向,嘗試以純粹空間性的方式建構體驗,去除文本、角色與敘事性,對虛擬實境體驗中觀者與作品的關係提出新的詮釋。
❅關於藝術家❅
科技藝術、虛擬實境創作者,楊子慕藉著程式、美術與音樂的多元背景,探索各種科技媒材之表現張力。認為創作應是開放性的自我探索、自我認識的過程。近年來著迷於探索虛擬實境內空間張力與美學。
❅Exhibition Introduction❅
In virtual reality, space defines viewers’ existence, and paths define that very existence. Entering a groundless virtual world, viewers need to learn how the space interacts with them, so that their existence and the extent to that existence can be determined. The path ahead shows the way forward, which suggests the purpose of the work and how it goes on, and the viewers’ existence in a virtual setting is then subtly defined. Should additional information such as the interactive experience and the text within be stripped away, the space itself, as a symbol, will directly work on the physical body, senses, and the degree of immersion. Following this train of thought, Third Person, the project on display, attempts to construct a purely spatial experience, based on the space, direction, and volume. Without text, characters, and narratives, the relation between viewers, in terms of their experience, and the VR project is interpreted in a new way.
❅About the Artist❅
Working on virtual reality and creation with technology, Tzu-Mu Yang draws on his diverse backgrounds in programming, art, and music to explore the potential for different expressions through technology as media. Yang believes that creation should be an open process of self-exploration and self-understanding. In recent years, Yang has been exploring the use of space in different settings and the aesthetics of virtual reality.
