My fan never works. How can I simulate hot conditions so that I can diagnose the problem? When I give 12 V to the fan from an external source it spins very fast, so the problem is not in the fan itself.

Very helpful, I have Mercedes W203 and everything looks very similar. But I have question, how do you bleed the system properly, I dont want to mix the old coolant with new, to be accurate, how do you get the coolant out of engine block. Do I also have to wait until the engine temeprature reaches 90°C for the thermostat to open?

One way is to add first destiled water , run the engine , drain it a couple of times . Other option can be more challenging: remove the alternator if its water cooled and it will drain most of the coolant from the engine block . I made a separate video about the alternator..

When it's cold the temperature will stay under 90 degrees c no matter what you do, from what I've seen .

Hello, I have a w203 with the same engine like this one. Is it possible to change just the temperature sensor on the thermostat without draining the coolant? I bought a new thermostat and it comes with sensor. My coolant is very new, just 1 year old.

Hi ! You will need to drain like 20% of the coolant . If you wanna reuse it , just make sure to keep the drained coolant as clean as possible.

Good question! It's there because the same thermostat design is used on other models which have an extra cooling hose .

I have same car w210 220 my problem is too much smook and misfire mercedes technical could not tell me anything they just want to change a lot of things and still they are not sure if the problem goes away egr valve I changed still nothing changed what is your advice please. Thanks

It needs proper diagnose. It might be leaky injectors the cause ..
