Windmill letterpress foil processing video

An absolutely beautiful long lost art. Spent my entire life in the printing trade.. mostly in prepress as a stripper and then mac operator. Ran a 10x15 windmill in the mid-late 70's. They're slow but SO VERSITILE and very cool! Perf, score, slit, diecut, emboss, foil stamp, numbering, print, etc. Thanks for the video

I'm 57 and I can still remember Heidelberg USA would still service these presses .....not anymore, the techs that come into the shop can't even service a gto or Kord....if it does not have computer controls the press operator has to help these guys work on the press .

@@w_letterpress most of the older techs that serviced this type equipment that worked at Heidelberg USA were let go in the 1990s and some started their own companies to service old printing presses. If you call Heidelberg USA for windmill press parts they would laugh

@@johnnyteague3407 Oh, yes. I understand. :) In Korea, there is a place where parts are removed from old machines and repaired. Most of them are repaired by removing parts from equipment that are old and not used. As a result, the price of the parts is quite high. For example, a windmill wing may require $1800. I wish you all the best in your work.

@@w_letterpress the company I worked for, if they could not trade in a press, they would roll it out into the parking lot and tell us to beat it with sledge hammers. Then it went to scrap....we bashed many linotypes, meihle, Kluge ,and other presses because they refused to sell to the competition. Just thinking about all those old press parts and the value of them.

Nice to meet you. In Korea, there are two places that make foil devices, and when equipment is sent, the factory makes heat devices. It usually costs about $3,000. There is no case of selling what you have made.

Nice to meet you. This machine was manufactured by Heidelberg in Germany and was discontinued in 1986.

Cool video. Just noticed that this particular press must have originally been imported to and used in Norway. The placards all have Norwegian writing on them. A long journey all the way to Korea in the end :9

I'm very grateful. First of all I do everything without a guide. It is used without a guide when processing on the offset printing after printing or to save paper. The foil hanging device is attached to the chase. We will publish it in detail later when uploading the video.

Machine Heidelberg dite ofmi en France du nom des anciens distributeurs, c’est déjà vieux….. équipée d’un dispositif de dorure à chaud, marbre chauffant lisse, dispositif de placement des films de dorure avec avance et d’un boîtier de commande ; Température, avances. Mise en œuvre avec un cliché magnésium (avantageux à l’achat peu cher, comme disait Fernandez…) bon pour petits tirages à plat, magnésium collé à l’aide d’un scotch dit à chaud, inconvénient du système le scotch à l’approche du cliché fait parfois de petits bourrelets créant un sur épaisseur plus ou moins visible ensuite par un excès de pression localisé, avantage peu onéreux et rapide de mise en œuvre, bien nettoyer le marbre ensuite et éventuellement le cliché… machine bien réglée avec une astuce de cale en bois pour décaler la pile, format très petit et la positionner sous 2 boutons d’aspiration(sucette) afin de faire prendre la feuille en bonne position car on ne peut ici travailler avec le rectificateur… Bon résultat. Nostalgique de la typo et de cette petite machine à tout faire quasiment irremplaçable pour certains petits travaux et pour du gaufrage, rainage, perforation etc… le format papier est de 26x38 un plu grand modèle existe dit double A4 - 32x46 - Si tout le monde arrive à faire fonctionner cette machine peu de conducteurs ont reçu aujourd’hui les formations Heidelberg et beaucoup sont sous employées voir mal utilisées…. La qualité d’impression est parfaite grâce à une frappe puissante, précise et rapide si besoin. Le résultat, avec certains caractères, litho antique, anglaise est inégalable en numérique.
