For a long time, US 12 ran from Detroit to it's western terminus at US 10, west of Helena, MT. In the 1960's, western states agreed to extend US 12 west to the Pacific Coast. Using a number of existing roads and, especially in Idaho, rebuilding some of them, US 12 was finally extended to it's new terminus at US 101 in Aberdeen, WA. In Washington State, the former US 410, WA 5, I-5, WA 9 and finally, again US 410, became US 12. My old maps didn't show it, so a visit to the Federal Highway Administration provided the answers. Many US routes were realigned and some disappeared in the 60's and beyond.

Never been on WA240 on the Kennewick/South Side of the Columbia. At 8:50, WA 240 exits, traveling north about 5 miles, then left, west, passing Hanford Nuke Site and lots of tumbleweeds! Taken that road, WA24 & 243 up to I-90 to Seattle. Quite a few wineries and apple farms back in there. Thanks Mike!

@@codeinecrazyfuture His profile certainly resembles a former President which the state is named after.
