The easiest thing that separates the 2 is that the purpose of Waacking is to make sound visible. Moving in perfect sync to the beat to give the sound a visual representation is the goal. Voguing on the other hand has the 5 elements. Hand performance Floor performance Spins and dips Duck walk And cat walk Within vogue are various styles like banjee, mean girl, stunty and so on.

I loved the whole ideals like whacking has a very fast paced movement that is on beat while voguing in hand performance it's all about the control of working every inch of hands and arms to make very flexible moments

Waacking and Voguing actually had similar starts back in the day. Both were started by African American and Latino Queer people and both were kind of considered to be underground dance styles. One of the key differences between the two of them is that Waacking was started in the West Coast in Hollywood emulating the golden era of Hollywood, while Voguing started in the East Coast in NYC first emulating the poses on the cover of Vogue Magazine, then evolving into arm control and tutting, then into the current style of vogue which is Vogue Femme.

The difference between voguing and whacking lies in the movements of the rest of the body, and can't be seen in a hands performance, since both flows shown can be argued to be different types of voguing, only one exacerbating rolling and the other one exacerbating figures.

With a professional who is well trained, they can work through the abuse they have suffered in the past to rebalance their life. Hey, we all could use some psychological help at times. Look around at gay people and you see a demographic that exhibits abnormally high depression, drug use, promiscuity, STD rates and on and on. The lifestyle is a mess. We are known by our fruits. Waacking seems like more of a fast-paced performance while voguing seems more deliberate (ohh, that's not the word) and utilizes more precise movements of the hands and arms making for a more sensual and expressive performance... I admit I haven't seen a lot of whacking videos but the ones I've seen were done by very accomplished dancers. And this guy moves twice as fast? There's so little vogue that it's hard to judge! He gave a little hand movement that it! Vogue requires a whole lot more than that, where is the whole body involvement! Since the death of Willi Ninja you really don't see vogue anymore! You don't see mainstream media interested anymore like when Willi was performing who was on Jimmy Kimmel and with Anna Wintour from Vogue Magazine and all over the place because he really captured what Vogue is that was taught to him by the late Hector Valles who died in 1985! I had the pleasure of knowing both! The generation today changed it into freestyle breakdancing and then try to label it Vogue, but it's not! That's why mainstream media interest in it has waned because there's no one to carry it forward not even Javier Ninja! Fantastic performer but he got too much into wacking and that street Subway break dancing!🤷‍♂️

I mean to be fair. They were mostly doing hand peformances. The hand performances were great in my opinion. You aren't wrong this isn't 100% vogue, but its one of the elements. The hand performances you can tell were more Old Way with spices of Femme within it. We appreciate the history lesson, but if you're gonna give a critique, give a critique. If you are looking for more elements then just say that. This video is more about the difference between the two styles in what they have in common [hand/arm movements.] In my opinion is should the title should Waacking vs Vogue [Hand Performance]. Maybe an explanation within the video to explain the differences between Waacking [Controlled and Cadenced] and Voguing [Fluidity and Dynamics] so people can understand the CORE difference between the COMPARISON.

@@itsokitsok5020 I respect that you were there during the 70s. But the fact you're calling this breakdancing shows that you lack either knowledge of other styles of dance or your being purposely malicious. As I stated before this shows the difference in the hand performances of both styles in order to TEACH those to discern the difference in appearance between them. You are coming from a place of talking down to people instead of educating them. Regardless of your standings in the Ballroom era, you should giving critiques and teaching people. Especially if you're a Mother/Father. If you want the children to learn then teach. If you don't wanna teach, then I'd advise not to criticize if you aren't wanting people to grow and learn from it.

Most of this seems kinda off tbh bc Ballroom is still heavily in mainstream media… FKA TWIGS, Nordstrom, & Beyoncé have used influences from ballroom in the past year alone. Also old “Vogue Performance” was for Butch queens. Todays new Vogue is based off of Femme Queens who invented softer and more feminine ways of Vogue. Femme Queens paved the way for Ballroom to transform into a heavily Vogue femme space in the 80s & 90s. If you watch old balls from the 80s & 90s you’ll see the evolution of Vogue femme. I think overall this was just you flexing knowledge rather than actual understanding. Performance categories have never been choreographed unless it’s performance as a house or for specific purposes. If you’re at a ball and do choreography, you’ll get chopped and it’s typically been like that for like… ever The video shows how versatile hand performance is and it shows how strong whacking is. There’s a very clear difference between the two.
