Really great video series. Thank you for sharing your adventures. The northern sunsets were beautiful and those walleye! 👍

An incredibly relaxing series, well documented and narrated. You captured your peaceful adventure perfectly. Capturing all the wildlife, particularly the bear and wolf, was a huge bonus. Had a black bear swim in front of my canoe in Woodland Caribou PP last summer on my 21 day solo trip. Remarkable experience. Thanks again for sharing yours.

This series is just great and that piano refrain you use is like a breeze sighing through the spruce on a cool evening - perfect.

Awesome series. Getting the bear & a wolf on camera is once in a lifetime for most. Great job for someone just starting out. Your channel will grow fast. Certainly cannot complain about “Joe” watching it, he is one the select few Godfathers of Bushcraft/Canoe Tripping. Keep up the vids. Loved it.

Thanks for the encouragement. I always see more wildlife when I'm solo. Must be the lack of talking I assume.

Really enjoyed watching this series, great job! I'm in Southern Ontario and forget how much untamed beauty we have just north of us. I'm getting my gear together to be able to do an extended trip like this and your videos are like gas for my motivational fire 😉👍

I've seen a lot of large animals swimming over the years but never a bear. Must have been an exciting sight! Thanks for taking us along.

Really, the best Wabakimi series I've seen. Heading up this year, again?

Thanks. I was going to Woodland Caribou last fall, but couldn't get across the border. It's looking like that may not change this year.

@@fefdom Yeah, possibly not, which is a shame. Have you visited WCPP before. I've been going there for about 15 years or so...only doing Wabakimi for the last 3. Curious about your preference? Or, is there a preference...they're only different?
@paulhoy
@paulhoy 3 жыл бұрын
@Dogbain That said, I think you'd do a hell of a job filming and narrating WCPP: I think the place lends to, complements, your sensibility (or so it seems).

Heading there next year on my first solo trip, this really inspired me….. thank you….. One question though, what time of year was this again?

Awesome footage! I wonder if that bear was chased off shore by another bear, or somehow fishing, I know bears in the West will dive for fish carcasses... or if it had parasites...

I loved watching this series in preparation for my first Wabakimi trip this year and just rewatched them too. So beautifully filmed and wonderfully edited. Forgive me if this was answered elsewhere, but I'm curious what type of camera you used, and if you usually used a tripod or if you just have very steady hands. Also, what time of year were you there? I ended up traveling some of the same water and a few of the same campsites.

Hi, and thanks. I use a Panasonic camcorder. Just a cheap one model # HC V380. The recording quality is just OK in my opinion. The technology in the smaller camcorders hasn't advanced in over a decade, which is a surprise and a shame. It seems like these are dead end products that will eventually be discontinued. My main reason for using a camcorder is the huge zoom range, and the way you hold it makes it easier to get a steady shot. No tripod. Oh, my editing software also has a steadying algorithm, which I often use. I started my Wabakimi trip around August 15 and was out 15 days. I want to get back there as soon as I can.

Yeah, so, thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing to watch. Need a few more music options, but the rest was just your style and fun to watch. Bring a dog and watch your sub increase by 10 fold. ;)

Fantastic series! I’m watching this during the dead of winter from my cabin on the edge of the BWCAW and I really appreciate you giving me a brief respite. I build and design strippers as well, what design/plan did you use? Excellent workmanship.

Hi Dan. I just checked out your last video. Nice canoes and nice place you have there. The canoe in most of my videos is a John Winters Kite. It was my first canoe build, and my go-to for beating up on longer trips. It has mostly fared well with a few repairs here and there. I've built a few tandems and a number of other solos since then. Last winter I learned Delftship for design and built 3 solos of (mostly) my own design. One was a bit of a pain to build. I did learn that it is possible to design a boat that is almost impossible to build. There's a lot of time and effort into that kind of experiment. Take care, Mark

@@fefdom thanks! I can definitely relate to feeling like I’m rolling the dice on a new design. A lot of time and effort involved. I used Rhino for the cad work and had it down to pretty much exactly what I was going for but still drag the design phase out forever until I’m relatively sure it’s what I’m after. Even then there’s always tweaks on the next hull. I see your are from Livingston? I have old friends (the O’Hairs) there. Great folks . Thanks again for putting these videos together.
