Our local rock station played the long version last sunday morning-it was awesome to hear it again.

A bona fide rock classic.

This is when you asked a girl to slow dance when the long version played. Yup Boomer music rules and I’m glad I was part of it.

Whenever a radio station played the long version it meant the disk jockey was taking a dump.

~ Honour our living legends: much love for Doug Ingle! 1968!! This jam still intense, much appreciated, and fresh in 2018 ~ Iron Butterfly should've been at Woodstock! Cheers, DAVEDJ ~ R.I.P. our beloved ARETHA FRANKLIN...

I agree. It still sounds great here in 2018 as it did back in 1968.

Four thumbs down? How can anyone dislike this timeless classic? Animals!!!!!!

~ Many "fans" were not thrilled with the edit to a 7" single and probably still carry a grudge. They need to take a 50+ year chill pill. L.O.L. I love this song and the group in all forms!

On occasion the Music Choice Classic Rock digital music TV channel would play the full opus of the song, the 17-minute epic like no other. They also play the full version of the Chambers Brothers' "Time Has Come Today" every now and then.

What was the song on side the B of the Atco 45? I remember I really liked it a lot. Very upbeat, happy sound compared to In A Gadda Da Vida. Yet still very psychedelic.

The b-side was an instrumental, "Iron Butterfly Theme"-- the final track from "Heavy", Iron Butterfly's debut album.

Here's one where I prefer the longer version (no kidding)...if correct, this is just an edit fform the seventeen minute long album version (which I have both on mp3 and on cassette tape).

Isn't it true that almost no one started producing stereo 45s until about 1969?
@tracemontgomery54596 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's largely true, there was still quite a bit of mono until 1972 as far as 45s went. They largely stopped making mono albums after 1968.

@Erzahler7 жыл бұрын
I am aware of four separate versions: 1, the originL radio edit (this one); 2, the longer radio edit, about 5-1/2 minutes; 3, the live extended version, approximately 15-1/2 minutes; and 4, the extended studio version, approximately 17 minutes.

I was listening to the full 17-minute long version about 20 minutes ago;listening to the 22 minute long "Get Ready"(Rare Earth) right now.:) Both are interesting reverse cases of the LP being superioir (but so long that, well, who's got time to play it all on most stations:))
