I am a huge fan of this channel and would request Bryce to mention the architect and design team atleast once, even as written text, cause even though the client initiates the idea and funds this, the houses are design team’s child, when we appreciate beautiful architecture who should also appreciate the hands that raised them, a little motivation & appreciation goes a long way.

While your point is well taken and spot on, many of the homes Bryce features are designed, and often built, by the owners. Many of them are DIY or they work with a friend, or family member who shows them how. I feel that he typically does a great job giving credit to the people involved.

@@janetwalker3541 that's true where buying a house is concerned, but less so when building on already owned land. Property costs vary wildly from place to place, but building materials and labor costs are more uniform. Apartments don't give you a personal garden space or a private backyard, which many people love. It's understandable why many don't enjoy the idea of a living in a 2 story condo building or something similar. Personally, I have strong anxiety living in apartments, but that may be because I grew up in my families quiet ranch-style home.

@@Coromi1 condo, strata rules aren't for everyone. 2 bedroom condos of abt 7-800 sq ft cost over a million already, plus you have to pay strata fees etc. Vancouver is a very expensive place to live in, the reason why the city allowed lane way homes is for homeowners to make it a mortgage helper if they choose to rent it out.
@Coromi15 жыл бұрын
First, I am happy for the lady in the clip and I think it is a wonderful tiny home. But let's look at the bigger perspective. Ground is scarce and valuable in Vancouver. How should society organize it? Clutter all scarce green spots with tiny homes? Gardens are important for the city climate (heat, air pollution), for rain water to trickle into the ground, for animals and life quality in general. It is better organization to built appartment buildings where you can place more people on limited ground. You can do better insulation and more efficient heating. And you can built high quality buildings with good sound insulation and pleasant looks. Also, please look at the even bigger perspective - the most important one. I don't know about Canada, I am German. In Germany and the US, neoliberal ideology has turned large parts of the country into wastelands without jobs, money, doctors, culture and without hope. Now we have inner-country fugees who flee the economic and cultural wastelands in favour of few prosperous cities. There is no way - not tiny homes and not appartment buildings - to create enough homes for all those people. The nescessary solution is to reverse the downward spiral of large parts of the country. "The markets" won't do that.

I am in love with this unusual home! How fortunate for Tomiko that she had many people who had her back when her husband died. I love every single thing about her home. Thank you, Bryce, for selecting such unusual tiny homes for us to visit! 🐝🐝🐝

This is definitely my favourite small home so far. Some tiny homes feel too small, but this small home is just the right size. Not too much, not too little space for everything. I would feel very blessed to be able to live in a house like this. Thank you Bryce and Tamiko for letting us see this beautiful home.

Not surprised about the cost - Vancouver is one of the most expensive places to live in Canada. However, it sounds like it is worth every penny! Gorgeous design 😍

I’m sold!! Heated floors have always been my dream living in old New England homes my entire life! The basements underneath, make my floors so 🥶 during winter but in summer I welcome them!! She’s so lucky to have her mom alive and living right next door! 💯😊❤️

I just watched this video for the second time showcasing your beautifully-designed Wabi-Sabi home. I really love its exquisite architecture, along with the added touches of Japanese and NW Native American artwork, the wooden step at the entrance, frosted round window, colors and textures of furniture. It also is great how you have your own space yet remain connected with your Mom and her lovely garden. Thank you for sharing it. Jenny

Wow...love the openness, the fullness of space. 640sqft is very comfortable, especially when architect can design all the functional areas so open and accessible. And the windows give so much light in and view looking out. Heated floors are a bonus. Nicely presented, inspirational to follow, unique in every respect.

I’ve watched a lot of your videos as well as a few others, and I have to say, this home fits me the best out of all of the hundreds I’ve seen. It’s beautiful and breathtaking to me, and I love all of the large storage drawers and areas. Perfect. I think it also says a lot about this woman and her love of family, especially her Mother. Her warmth and love shines through the video screen. It has you smiling throughout along with nodding your head yes. Thank you for finding this home and sweet lady and sharing it with us.
