I found this by chance. Though I'm not generally a metal fan, the juxtaposition of cultures here absolutely fascinates me: Young women. From Indonesia. In hijab. Playing heavy metal. At a music festival in Germany. To an audience representing a wide range of age, gender, culture, country (note the guy with the Mexican flag), style, and more. Not to mention, their skill as musicians is undeniable. Respect!

and if you know how they get into this global stage you will be more amazed. they came from very remote rural area in Garut, 8 hours from Jakarta, from a very humble framer families'. In one per billionth in probability that they will be soaring into this stage. But with the help and mentoring from Abah Ersa they manage to slip very thin chance they have as three rural girl at junior high school students to one of the best woman metal band in the world. it its truly heroic, they and Abah Ersa write their -not only personal, but- people legend.

Voice of Baceprot is the first Indonesian band to appear at the biggest music and arts festival in the world. IMO metal always boasted really great female singers/characters Nightwish, Eluveitie, Evanescence, Guano Apes, Warlock (oldies!), BabyMetal, Slot, Jinjer, Lzzy Hale, Grai, Burning Withes the list can go on. I'm just listing bands where female singers had a lot of leading role, not to mention back vocal singers and not getting into punk rock as well. But I agree this 3 girl rock 🤘🏴‍☠
