45 isn't actually difficult if you learn to use rotation. Rotation gets rid of that very weak feeling in 4-5 when doing scalic runs. Give it a try sometime.

Oohhhhh historical fingerings! There was even a practice where you're supposed to be slightly turned to your right, where the audience should be sitting and to which the harpsichord should be opening its lid - because you're having a conversation with the audience (so you should face them), and in this posture the 34-34 and 21-21 fingerings work superbly well.

Dave Frank tells the story that Lenny Tristano gave him the lesson to do every possible fingering for every possible scale every possible way (parallel, contrary, different skips, etc.), and that it took like 15 months for him to get through them all perfectly. But he said his fingers felt invincible when he did. He also said he'd never put himself through that again!

Your most brilliant video to date. While this may appear to some as overly simplistic, it can take ones playing to an all new level. Getting your fingers to move fast requires breaking it down into smaller and smaller steps. I've always done this with a guitar, but it never occurred to me to do this on piano. Thank you

I think you find a way if you don't have the fingerings down. However, these are fingerings that technically allow you to strengthen your fingers and get through complex movements on the keys easily. Usually early (if trained) in piano learning years.

There are basically two types of musicians. Technique based or note based. You’re the note based kind. Any available finger can be used to play the next available note. It’s the actual most useful skill for the improvising musician. The other one however…
