The Intuos Draw is the most inexpensive Wacom tablet than money can buy (it's around $80). So how does it stack up against other inexpensive drawing tablets? Spoiler alert: pretty good.

Scroer Uee that is very true I usually keep my tablet on my lap while sitting on my bed (I know its bad for my back but I dont have a desk) using it next to my computer makes me not want to draw so I always use it infront of the computer.

I've been wanting a drawing tablet since I've discovered they exist. I just found out about this one and looked it up. It's pretty cheap and seems really good. The only thing that will be hard for me to get used to is the hand-eye coordination part.

Hey Brad. I'm interested in shifting my drawing medium from paper to digital. I made up my mind almost for the iPad pro 12.9 but after watching this video I feel really comfortable in wanting to test the water first with something inexpensive yet great like an entry level Wacom before investing thousands in an iPad. Ectos I don't really recommend it if you're starting, it's a whole lot of "getting used to" you can't look at your tablet to see where you're drawing, and the ratio of the tablet and screen often vary a little bit. Summing that up it's hard to get a line right looking at just one of the devices. To fix that that you could zoom in but that alone takes a lot of getting used to too, you have to consciously think about what portion of your screen the tablet is focusing on. Even the cursor didn't help me a lot in this. Overall, as brad said these things have really great quality and if you can handle that as a starter it's a great drawing tablet actually

Awesome! My one piece of advice is that it takes some time to get used to drawing on a tablet (because you're looking at a monitor, not at your hand). Just keep at it and practicing and you'll be kicking butt in no time.

I'm sure you've heard Brad, but just discovered that Krita 3.0 got released on may 30th. Been playing around with it, and it now natively supports the eraser on my SP4 pen actually erasing now, instead of just causing it to act like the pen tip. Probably hundreds of other changes, but since I'm not an artist I just mess around with it for fun, so don't use many hardcore features. That's my favorite change and makes me love using the program now. Just thought you may like to know.Love watching your videos just to watch them, love the presentation style, very soothing. Learned to get more than Programming out of my SP4. keep up the good work..

I plan on learning to draw so I'm looking into drawing tablets as I know I will make a lot of mistakes and I'm not keen on wasting paper. Since most drawing tablets are far too expensive to kick off a new hobby, would you recommend this for a brand new beginner?

I would actually recommend paper for a beginner. It's good to learn one thing at a time. Start with paper and in a few weeks as you get comfortable drawing something then try out something like this. Learning to draw on a tablet like this one takes some time because you are looking at the screen and not your hand when drawing. So if you learning how to draw and learning how to use this tablet at the same time it could be frustrating.

I realise this statement is contradictory to my initial question where I said that I'm a complete beginner. Thanks for talking about how pressure sensitivity is a terrible stat! I went from an old Graphire 4 to an Intuos Pro a couple years ago and went from something like 512 to 2048 and really didn't notice a big difference.

This is the tablet I use and I find it to be a good starter. Not looking at my hands was a non issue for me, so a screen tablet isn't completely necessary.....that and Wacom's cheapest Cintiq costs more than double my computer (and their most expensive costs close to six times as much as much as my computer....I did the math.) My only complains are that the drivers like to hide, so it seems like every time my computer goes through an update, or I make a lot of changes to it at one time, I have to go in and reset the drivers. And the other issue is the size. It's starting to hurt my wrists, but I think the next size up of this model will fix that problem, or maybe even a medium Intuos Pro (I actually use the buttons religiously so more of those wouldn't hurt)

I’ve had this tablet for awhile now. I’m a pretty good artist and I’ll say that the main drawback is the size. I’m really happy with everything else. The big issue was that the size of the tablet compared to the monitor that I use make all my strokes really hard to control. If I moved my pencil half an inch it would move across the screen it would move 1.5 inches…. How am I supposed to draw accurately if every stroke I make has to be about 3 times smaller than it should be. Not to mention that it’s so much harder to get the line you want because a what would have been a slight deviation becomes 3x worse. If you’re not a beginner artist I would check out a bigger tablet.

I got this tablet as an early birthday present 2 days ago, I've been using it a lot, I love this tablet, it really is an awesome tablet to use this is my first drawing tablet, and it really is worth your money. It may be cheap but it can still create realistic art and comics, it gives a real feel to pencil and paper, it won't bother you to look at the screen while drawing, I got use to It within the first 10 minutes of use.

i just got mine today and had nvr tried it before. setting up(downloading stuff) was relatively clear as they have the quick start guide. When tried it for the first time it was rather awkward as i have always been drawing on paper. but after 2 hours of trying out ,i started to get the hang of it , really like the first impression it gave me !

I got the Huion H420, its very cheap on amazon only around 29.99 or 39.99 I forgot, but it works very nicely! It's small, and it comes with a cleaning kit, its perfect for beginners, if your on a budget! It also sounds like paper, its smooth, and the pen has a little bit of weight added due to the battery, it's not the best, but it's also very good if your a parent with children that have a destiny in art and animation! I'm a 13 year old girl who just turned 13 on the 18th of may, and I can say, this is the best begginers tablet, -but ifyou have big hands there is a difficulty in using it, your hand cramps up-

These are really handy devices; I literally use my Bamboo every day. The advice here is right, that it takes a couple of weeks to get your sea legs with it, but it becomes very natural to draw on it. I want to upgrade back to the Intuous; my last one just died for no reason after two years. I always draw with mine in front; I use Sketchbook (comes with it), Medibang and Adobe Elements.

I don't know if I'm the only person that has had this problem, but I can't recommend the Intuos Draw to anyone because I had issues with the surface itself. As time went by, the surface began to warp and behave very strangely. It would not draw a straight line in certain areas, because the surface itself warped. Even if I used a ruler and the pen itself went in a straight line, I'd look at my drawing program and see a light bowl shape. Because of this, it quickly became extremely frustrating to use after a few months. Just buy an Inspiroy H640P or XP-Pen Star05 instead, the Intuos Draw will die on you. Personally I moved on to an Intuos Pro Small but can't recommend its' steep price compared to the Inspiroy and Star05. Simply stated, I think there's a damn good reason Wacom has not used this (honestly truly amazing, I do agree) surface texturing on more expensive tablets, because whatever materials tech their using has serious teething problems when it comes to reliability. If you'd like to humor me, would any of you guys please plug it in to see if yours has had a similar degradation? Mine took around 3-4 months to get the surface oddities. I got mine during the first few months of production years ago when they first introduced these, maybe they fixed it later. I'd like to know if I could recommend this to people again.

if you don't have much saving to purchase a tablet and a beginner, this tablet is the best to buy. the other new intuos 2015 were also amazing but it depends on which free pack that you're going to use, as for the free draw pack I doubt that I'll ever use it (I have redeem the code though) because I go for more serious with all the softwares that are needed for me like adobe, corel, manga studio. it was a pain when I first using intuos draw since I'm just a beginner doing digital and less than 2 months it wasn't so awkward to use non display graphic tablet. if Mac or laptop were your daily essentials getting new intuos 2015 small size is the best option from the tablet size, dimensions and lightweight too.

Thanks for this - some idiot knocked my Wacom One off my table in costa today, ripping the cable out of it so hard that it killed it, so needing a new one. I'm a pro designer and do all sorts from branding to retouching and illustration and I really don't understand why some people are snobs about tablets - I've used the basic models my entire career and I've never felt like I was missing any functionality - the graded levels of pressure and tilt across the different models are such a gimmick - I don't believe there is really that much user difference across them for digital artists and as a graphic designer these functions are pretty much immaterial anyway. I have never once found myself thinking 'I wish my tablet had higher sensitivity and could tell if I was tilting the pen'. Also small is good. I was given a £450 large intuos pro at my last job: I never used the buttons, the surface was way too big to draw on and it hogged too much space on my desk. I actually gave it to one of my juniors after a few weeks and 'downgraded' to the Wacom One which cost me about £65. The only thing I was a bit concerned about with this one was the texture of the surface because of the dots - I didn't know if they were raised or something and I don't like tablets that have too much bite on them, but your video cleared that up nicely for me. I also like that the cable goes in the back rather than the side like the previous low-end versions did. Cheers dude ✌

Nope, the dots aren't raised at all so they won't cause any problems. Also you can get a wireless battery pack for this too and go cord free.

i saw this and own this tablet. i can very much agree that it is very hard to draw when the tablet is off to the side, but i'm a beginner at drawing. i always seem to always shift my eyes towards my tablet and think "wait my drawing is on the screen"

Best way to position it is to have your computer head of you, and then the tablet parallel underneath to it.

This was my first tablet from a while ago, I got it for Christmas and i was so excited and I was willing to work to get used to it, but my sister just gave up on hers when she realized it didn’t have a screen, which made me super mad because I told her beforehand.

I have a wacom one which is super simple but highly effective. I was extremely surprised with the the quality and effectviness of the tablet. I also have a surface pro 3, but it feels better to draw on wacom one. I almost cried when I noticed I had spent a lot of money for the surface pro 3. Wacom one does the job. I will Sell the surface pro 3. I'll try another display tablet after the surface.

I have a question: Does touch feature matter when drawing with these tablets? Draw model doesnt have the touch feature but art comic and photo has it. How would that affect me?

It makes scrolling and those stuff much easier. It also looks 2 inches in width and length bigger too.

hmm....it sounds like it is great but some question/s....How do you know where you're drawing? like...Umm how do you know where to put your pen if you can't see? it's not like a mouse. When you have a mouse you know just where your line is going to begin and see it perfectly. I've been looking for an answer all over videos but none seem to have the answer! I just have to know since I don't know if i should get it for Christmas.

I know I'm a bit late, but I just stumbled upon your channel. Thanks for this review! I really want to start drawing again and I've looked at the Lenovo Yoga Book and Wacom tablets. On the Yoga Book there is some kind of cursor on the screen when I hover over/touch the digitizer with the stylus, but in your video it looks like you are working completely "blind" without any indicator on the screen, Am I right with this? I fear it might be to difficult for me to get satisfying results without knowing where the tip is placed on the screen.
