It's easy to look at the veneer of "we're fucked up individuals" but the dialog is the two of them feeling each other out by speaking in "their language." When Wade brings it around with the ball gags and clown porn, he's demonstrating that his first joke wasn't just a line he picked up, he's actually got a sense of humor. He also demonstrates that he's not trying to one-up her by conceding with a joke. Further, they don't just go for the easy fuck; they go on an actual date, further surprising her and giving her the sign that he's "the one." The second Wade gets the "yes" for the date, his reaction says the same thing: "she's the real deal." You'll find the one, you just need to find someone who speaks "your language" then put them to the test.

Well I hope that Deadpool is not the moral compass in which we all look to to raise our children, but one might argue that the fact that Wade has no morals and Vanessa is a prostitute yet he still treats her with respect and takes the time to know who she is beyond her sexuality is actually a pretty valuable lesson for young, impressionable boys to learn. But alas, I am not a brilliant man. Just a moderately intelligent woman.

The first was much simpler in terms of story structure and themes etc (the origin story, the hero who needs to avenge a wrong, the woman who needs to be saved etc) but it worked very well for what it was. A crazy spin on a “classic” story.

This is legit more romantic and realistic than the huge majority of movie romances - not two people that are perfect and oh so nice and they have search for someone like that their entire life and he/she is all i have ever dreamed about. Or- they must hide their love because family/society/whatever says their relationship is forbidden. Or- They spend an eternity on subtle hints and will they/won't they that drag on forever.... They were equally f***ed up and therefore compatible, and they just happened to bump into each other in a random spot. Most successful long term relationships start that way.

I remember when I was watching this part of Deadpool when it was playing in theaters, there was a row of kids sitting in front of me with their grandmother. And as soon as Wade started having sex with Vanessa in numerous ways around this part, the grandmother made all of the little kids get up and leave the theater.
