As I said then, I’ll say now, it was insanely humbling to fish with you Todd - a guy I’ve respected for so many years as an outdoor journalist. I assure you the fish were a bonus this day. Hope to see you in a few months 🎣

Ive been watching your videos for years. Enjoyed everyone of them. But, To see you fishing in my home state of Texas was like watching the super bowl of fishing. Most Anglers in Tx are Pros when looking for Trout, Redfish, & flounder. I love trout fishing as much as the next guy. But I key in on the Flounder action. All in all, between both states its truly a SPORTSMAN'S PARADISE. I look forward to more videos like this. 💯👍✌️

Very very entertaining. Thank you sir and must have been amazing fishing with Chris. All those fish so near the shoreline. Wow ! I won’t let the wife see this video, she’ll say see you don’t need a boat.😂

Another great video! It stirred up the desire to get off the bow of the boat and in the water in search of that gator trout! I’ll need to plan that trip to Port A soon LOL.

I own a boat, a kayak, and love to wade. What I've found is a quality vs quantity aspect depending on what platform I fish from. For me, boat is more quantity over quality on the day, kayak is more of a balance quantity to quality ,and wade is more quality over quantity. Hoping off the boat in a remote part of East Matagorda for a very quiet, slow, wade is heaven and produces the giants.

I grew up fishing that area. Use to able to drive down the beach to get there. Now you have to park by the camping area and walk down the beach. About July is really a good month there. Schools of mullet start making their way through there. I remember the wood wall that use to stretch down the water line where the rocks ( chunks of concrete really) are now.

Great Info from both of you. I'm a big fan of the ML moderate to moderate fast rod. Short too. 6'4" to 6'9". Perfect for me wading.

I’m right up the road in Rockport. I agree with Chris on the dark day, but I would have to bump it up a month and say Thanksgiving is about the time the big fish turn on. The bait is leaving, cold weather is coming and those big girls start eating heavy. I prefer St Charles bay because of less boat traffic and lots of shell/mud. Of coarse I’d be throwing a corky or big 5” swim bait. Great video, hope to see you back in Texas more.

Mr. Todd, with the ideal of Texas trout is more like of how Louisiana use to be, should Louisiana take some pointers and consideration of how neighbor states (Texas or Mississippi) take more care of their coast with coastal barriers to from hurricanes to preserve their mashes and estuaries so their trout fishery thrives? i know we have coastal restoration projects going which is a great thing but is there something we're missing that we're not doing they're doing?
@alpoveda57382 жыл бұрын
It's the pogie boats
@justinprice20652 жыл бұрын
@@alpoveda5738 forgive me on the ignorance on this question but what is the reason for the pogie boats causing an issue with the coastal erosion and the decline of the trout and redfish fishery? i knew those boats were a thing and they're hated in the vast community of the coastal angler world and i have never dealt with them before.

Im upper coast TX, we are 15-25 inch, 5 allowed, 1 over 25 allowed per day. I wish we would go to the limits on the mid and lower coast and make them permanent. It wasn't all that long ago a stringer of 20"+ was the norm. Now seeing a 20+ is cause for excitement

Come down to Baffin Bay in the winter and use corky fat boy style baits on an overcast day. You’ll get your gator trout. Just a quick boat ride south of corpus. Thank you for showing off our fishier and hopefully our flounder population recovers.

Todd why are speckled trout in LA smaller compared to TX? Everything’s bigger in TX?
@MarshManMasson Жыл бұрын
I don't know if anyone can state why with 100% certainty, but if you're talking about the Laguna Madre, Baffin Bay, Corpus Christi -- that area -- it's likely because of milder temperatures and a longer growing season.

If I want to get big trout would fish the Florida inter coastal over eel grass. My son was in Navy In Pensacola we caught so many 8 to 10 # trout. We took hooks off top water until we saw a real big one hit. Then throw a jig and catch them. Florida people are not into trout fishing. They don’t like to get up. Fishing off Sanibel at Jansen resort they told me don’t like trout could not believe. To prove my point was renting boat from Jansen and they did not open until 9. Top 3 fish Florida tarpon snook and grouper catching grouper over eel grass is something special. Another plus for Florida is weather seldom if ever go U have to cancel. Around Sanibel never have to cancel. That sandy bottom like walking on concrete and never gets muddy.

"That's a nice trout" - Says the Louisiana guy lol. I had a hard time transitioning to the speckled trout regs when I moved to Texas in 2016, and after the freeze, they got even more stringent! 17" fish is barely a keeper. Being a LA born and raised guy, I wish they would've LOWERED it to 14-18" and let's release those bigger fish. Instead, they made it 17"-24" and only 3 fish a day.
