In case you're curious about the setting, the world this show takes place in is mostly a traditional medieval fantasy, but this city was specifically built by scientists and inventors who also founded the world's greatest university, so it has technology that is more advanced than pretty much anywhere else Of course, only the rich half of the city actually gets to make money off that technology, while the other half barely get by working in the mines and factories that make their tech possible, and many have been forced to turn to crime to survive

Btw, think of the pop soundtrack as the chorus like in a Greek play. It's all written either to scene or theme (including Enemy, as Imagine Dragons go way back with Riot and are fans of the game, and were brought in super early), usually to storyboards, and temp versions were recorded early on. Then they brought in outside artists (like Bones UK, Woodkid, Denzel Curry, and PVRIS to list a few) to record the final versions. The music is often associated with specific characters, even, to give insight into their headpaces.

To let you know for future uploads, you do not have to mute the music (the only exception is the opening theme Enemy because Imagine Dragons owns that one). Riot wrote all of the music for their show and they do not copyright claim their music. You only have to edit the show to avoid issues with netflix, but if there is music in the scene you can play it. There are certain scenes coming in later episodes where the music is a huge part of the scene, and it's nice hearing it in the reactions. 😄

Yeah, one of the showrunners is also a composer and Riot has an in-house music department, as well as working with recording artists on the musical pieces that had vocals. The bts series Bridging The Rift goes into detail.
