In this video, we will be looking at the Wafer Double Door Check Valves.
This valve ensures a reliable one-directional flow in a pipeline. They're used in a multitude of applications where preventing backflow of the fluid is crucial for the efficiency and safety of the system. Applications you would find these used in include hot and chilled water, coolants, mild chemicals, irrigation, and many others, and are most commonly used in industries including HVAC, plumbing, and irrigation and many industrial applications.
The lightweight, compact wafer design allows this valve to be installed between two compatible flanges in a pipeline. This makes the installation and maintenance very straightforward, as the flanges can be simply unbolted, and the check valve removed for repairing or replacement of parts. These valves can be installed in any position or orientation.
The double door refers to the two spring-loaded discs, which are hinged in the center of the flowpath and open and close in response to the flow of fluid. This design is often more effective in preventing backflow compared to single door check valves. This is due to the smaller and lighter weight of the double doors, enabling them to respond quicker to backflow.
Also, because the discs have shorter travel in the opening and closing phases, they are less likely to cause water-hammer in the pipe system. The hinged point of the valve disc is in the middle of the flow path, so it does tend to trap fibrous or solid material, hence why your fluid must be clean and free of any debris.
Made from high strength cast iron, stainless steel, and EPDM, these valves are durable and provide excellent resistance to corrosion making them suited to a range of environmental conditions.
Let’s look at the specifications of these valves.
- Available in sizes from 50mm to 300mm.
- These valves can withstand a diverse range of fluids due to their hard wearing epoxy coated ductile iron body, allowing for durability and resistance to corrosion.
- The stainless steel disc has great corrosion resistance and good mechanical strength.
The EPDM seat has excellent heat and chemical resistance and provides an effective seal in a wide range of temperatures, with a temperature rating of 120℃.
- Other features include a stainless steel hinge pin, spring, and stop pin, electroplated carbon steel plug and eye bolt, and the body and spring bearings are made from PTFE.
- The wafer double door check valve has a pressure rating of up to PN16.
- Please note the flange ring gaskets are already included with these valves.
- Compared to other common check valves available, the wafer door check valve is a very cost effective option.
