Waffles are the clear answer. Pancakes: Gross, get soggy when u put syrup on them, butter melts into it, its just a sponge food, its like eating a break feast sponge!! Woffles: Have little holes for topping that always stay on THE TOP hence, TOPPING. Also, they are crunchier and prettier and less messy and gross :3 Woffles clearly win

I think pancakes should win this debate. The reason why I say that is due to the fact it is so easy to make! The only equipment that you need other then the basic equipment of a bowl and a spoon/whisk is a pan! Easy! Waffles on the other hand you got go to buy an expensive waffles maker that can take up room in a kitchen, while a pan you already have and use it for multiple uses! So I rest my case! Pancakes is superior to waffles!

Pancakes are better. 1. You get more in one pancake 2. Its less money 3. There is a day called pancake day not waffle day where pancakes are cheaper. 4. There is so much more you can do with an actual pancake like an omlet with just the waffles theres nothing you can turn them into (potatoe waffles dont count they dont include the same ingredients) 5. You can turn pancakes into a dinner by adding bacon or anything in it! I rest my case of pancakes... (i do like waffles but i pefer pancakes waffles soak up cyrup making them soggy blaaah)

In Norway, neither waffles nor pancakes usually look like that, both are much thinner and softer. Waffles are sold warm or cold at stands with butter (non-melted) + sugar or jam (sometimes eaten as a snack at home too), while pancakes are actual warm lunch.. or supper. Commonly covered with sugar or blueberries, rolled up into a tube and then sliced into mouthfuls.

Waffles for sure, everything Rhett said was valid. I like waffles for their fill-up-ability, you dont have to eat as much and the pancakes just fill you up too much. The bottom of a waffle stays crispy even though the top gets soggy. Plus they are more fun to make because you get to use a machine to make them, kids love that (though pancakes are more artistic). My whole household watched this episode with me (three people total) and its unanimous , waffles are preferred.

Peopleeaterx you need a better waffle iron (i don't have a pick, so i'm not judging your choice as i like waffles and pancakes equally) but if your waffle iron is not making crispy waffles there's something wrong with it, or the way you prepared the batter. i've never made a non-crispy waffle at home. my brothers however have made squishy waffles on their own and i haven't tried out the iron we currently have to know if its that or they just screwed up the batter so it's one of those two things.

The waffle requires dedication, but rewards you with delicious golden crispy pleasure for your mouth. Also, a waffle can be carried with you, such as in the case of a fair Belgian waffle. A pancake absorbs all of your condiments and just turns into a soggy, overly sweet disaster. Vote waffles, people!

Even though I LOVE the taste and texture of waffles, I have to go with pancakes for practical reasons. I am a mom in a house of 6 people and I can barely keep up with their hungry mouths when I make pancakes. They'd all starve if I tried making waffles. I reserve waffles for that special weekend when the kiddos are at Grandma & Grandpa's house, and hubby and I have the house to ourselves. :-)

LINK WON! Pancakes are amazingly better than waffles. I've only seen a few different types of waffles, but thousands of different types of pancakes! And Link's right, you end up with just a lake of buttery syrup after putting the toppings on a waffle, and you can't spread them evenly. You can also eat more pancakes, and they're more portable. The only portable waffles are the lame eggo waffles, which ruin waffles completely.

On a pancake, the toppings just end up sliding off and/or leaking out of the bottom of the pancake. I've seen chocolate chip waffles, about 20 kinds of fruit and berry waffles, vegetable waffles, savory waffles, even chicken and bacon waffles. There are just as many as pancake flavors. Who in their right minds would want to eat more pancakes? Waffles are better BECAUSE you only need to eat one. Pancakes aren't very portable, unless you like them cold and soggy. In that way, waffles are much more versatile, because the waffle's crust preserves heat AND topping without flooding out. Plus, they're not disgustingly floppy.

I prefer waffles. They're crispier, and the pockets help to hold the syrup, chocolate chips, berries, melted butter, and a kinds of other goodness and keep them from running off the waffle. Pancakes, not so much. You can do art with both. You can add chocolate chips or berries into the batter to either one, so there's neither one has the advantage here either. I happen to make blue berry waffles at least twice a month. The only disadvantage I see on the waffle side is that you do need a waffle iron to make waffles (at least to make them fresh). And a waffle iron is not exactly a multi-purpose device. Whereas for pancakes, all you need is a basic pan, which is multi-purpose. But if you have the waffle iron, it requires less expertise to make a waffle. Just pour in the batter and wait. Pancakes require a certain technique that require a little more skill. Lastly, you can buy frozen versions of both pancakes and waffles, which in both cases are obviously inferior to their respective fresh versions; both a frozen waffle is a better waffle than a frozen pancake is a pancake.

Waffles!!! Waffles you don't have to worry about making them too large or too small, or to thin or too thick, and you don't need to worry about when to flip them and them sticking to the pan or not! Waffles all you have to do is put them in the waffle toaster once and a minute or two later, they're done perfectly. You need practice and time to make perfect pancakes every time. Waffles also hold more toppings like Rhett was saying. Pancake toppings eventually just seap right through the pancake making it soggy and undesirable, while a waffle can hold whatever you put on top of it! And who would realistically eat that large of a stack of pancakes? You only need a stack of 2 or 3 waffles to be satisfied (depending on who you are) along with your other sides. If you had that large of a stack of pancakes, you would eat yourself sick and after awhile, they would also get cold and soggy from soaking in the syrup and butter while a waffle will just hold the toppings in its craters and not really "soak" it in. Also, there's a song dedicated to waffles and not pancakes

Waffles are superior as a food AND an art. While pancakes are quick and easy to make, they cannot actually hold onto any toppings unless you give it time to soak up the topping. by the time the soaking is done, the pancake is soggy and unpleasant to consume. Waffles may be difficult to spread on, but all you need to do is carefully put the right amount of topping in each pocket and the problem is solved. waffles are generally bigger, and easier to decorate. Also, PIXEL ART. have you ever seen an 8-bit Mario made of pancakes? Probably not, but I've certainly seen one made of waffles.
