Wag12 is made for pulling heavy loads at high speed at flat dfc section... Waha ke liye iss locomotive ko banaya gaya... isiliye isko bo-bo wheel arrangements rakha gya for speed... So this was expected.... At ghat sections multiple units of less horsepower locomotive with high tractive effort is favorable just like wdg4.... So this was obvious

Main purpose of wag12 was to increase the average speed of current frieght train...and hopefully at dfc currently this locomotive is successful... Everything has a positive side and negetive side...

True. Also its not negative side. This is the limitation of bo-bo type axle bogies, WAP5 is live example. It is king of plains, but never successful in high gradient areas. Similarly wag12 is king in dfc corridor, it beats even rajdhani express in average speed on dfc. They are good locos with limited and defined purpose, just like WAP5.

If there are steep gradients then there is need of banker locomotive for sure, bcoz of WAG12 which has 12000HP doesn't mean it will climb all the gradients. For eg. To climb Bhor Ghat in Central Railway section we always need banker locomotive to give extra push from end bcoz there are multiple gradients, even WAG 12 will also need banker locomotive to climb that section. 12000 HP doesn't means it will take steep gradients, only thing is WAG12 has more capacity to take larger loads at high speed in straight flat tracks not on Ghat/Inclined sections.

👍आप बिल्कुल सही बोल रहे हैं सर, यह जो इंजन है हमारे गांव के नजदीक के फाटक के पास एक घंटा के लिए रुक गया था, इसमें मालगाड़ी में कोयला लोड था,लेकिन यह इंजन खींच नहीं पा रहा था, या मालगाड़ी khanudih से सुभाष चंद्र बोस स्टेशन Gomoh को हो जा रहा था, लेकिन एक घंटा बाद इसे फिर वापस आना पड़ा।

Sir you're comparing it with WAG9/H, but I'm a resident of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Here I've seen WAG5 and WAG7 hauling freight trains easily, even though they're kind of older locos, but watching this advance loco facing difficulty in hauling freight trains there just puts a dent on the name of Alstom, even I've seen WAM4s doing a fantastic job there.

You didn't understand the video, wag12 is designed for speed. When you do that you have to compromise on weight and pulling power upto an extent, indian railways just have to decide which sections are suitable for it.

The reason you sighted is absolutely correct. But IR should actually use the suitable locomotives for the particular section instead of again doing R&D on Wag12 and thereby investing again considerable amount of funds. IR have enough WAG9 for this purpose, so much so that they are even used for express trains sometimes. 😀

Need to add additional bogey set with raising system like in trucks . Deploy when ghat section , retract when in plains. It will add little bit weight and increase tractive effort of motive and help to overcome problem of wheelslip. It will be a optimum solution

Retractable wheel system mushkil hoga.... Jagah kahan hai..... Permanent hone se koi problem nahi hogi.... Jab zarurat nahi hogi 3 bogie ki to uske traction motors mein power naa jaye aur wheel sirf free motion mein rahe to normal operations mein speed mil jayegi... aur jab Tractive effort chahiye tab 3rd bogie ke traction motor ko on karke wo kar sakte hain..... normal operations mein iss type ke method se third wheel ke motor ko braking time on karke regenerative braking ka bhi use laga sakte hain. Tough yet doable.

WAG-12 ko DFC k liye specially laya gaya tha... taki goods train ka MPS badh sake WAG-9 ka Co-Co bogies hai isliye 100kmph ki mps hai WAG-12 ka Bo-Bo bogies hai isliye 120kmph ka mps hai iska. Aur world mein fastest goods train America ka hai jo 120kmph pe chalti hai. DFC mein v goods train ka mps 120kmph karne ka plan tha isliye WAG-12 laya gaya. Jo ki WAG-9 k sath possible nahi tha. Ab yeah kiska idea tha pata nahi 12k HP dekh k ghat section pe bhej diya WAG-12 Ko 🤦🏻‍♂️

Goods loco mein bo bo bogie dena galat decision tha. Jab wag9 aya tha to usme wheel slip ki samasya thi isliye usme ek dead weight daal kar uske wajan ko badhaya gaya aur wag9h banake operate kiya gaya. Isme bhi ek dead weight daal kar iska weight badhakar wheel slip ki samasya door ho skti hai lekin usse iske speed pe farak padega. Wag12 ko dedicated freight corridor k liye banaya gaya hai jahan high speed se maal gadi ko chalaaya jayega aur ye tabhi possible hai jab raste mein pahad pathar nahi ayenge.

Hi there i am not convinced with the explanation provided by you. 1) As said by someone in the chat WAG 12 is designed for hauling loads at high speed with energy conservation and too in DFC. If you see the raised Panto of WAG that is the main reason to stack the containers one above another other. 2) This must be part of Indian Railways contract where they have asked for BoBo arrangements. 3) Having less weight doesn't implies that the Loco will not haul the load, we need to consider the gradient in which the train is carrying the load. So it's not the failure of WAG 12 but using this beast individually with maximum load near ghat sections.

WAG-12 is very very powerful in flat areas,most of the dedicated corridors r flats.So,there they use WAG-12 for double deck containers which earns huge margin profit,but in hilly areas we need something new,WAG-9 should be improved further for hilly areas,they look very old.

They should pause the production and suggest new design for better grip and friction. Already produced 100 locomotives should be used in other regions.

Hmm.. Agar WAG12 CO-CO Bogie wheel arrangement ke saath hota toh waha pe chadai aasani se kar leta... Toh shayad ab uss area me fir se Indian Railways ko WAG 9 chala padega woh bhi TWIN WAG 9 kyunki ab WAG 12 me CO-CO Bogie wheel arrange karna toh aur bhi costly ho jayega kyunki wheel arrangement ke saath saath uske gear ratios me bhi changes karne padenge... Ya phir WAG 12 ke baad koi doosra 12000hp ya oopar ka loco double unit form me loco bana ke waha test karna padega.. Ek minute.. WAG 11 bhi toh hai!! Usme toh CO-CO Wheel Arrangement bhi hai aur 2 units ko jodke bhi bana hai!! Indian Railways usko consider kar sakti hai waha ke liye... JUST A THOUGHT!!

The WAG12 failure is very sad saga of Indian Railways and it speaks volumes of hundreds of white elephants (IRS Babus) sitting in RDSO. Most of them are more concerned about their prestige, pay, perquisites, promotions and pensions than any real improvements in Railway designs. Are there any models like great Shri E.Shreedharan? The boasting of new coaches are nothing but barrowed window dressing with the help of contracted interiors.The biggest culprit is Engineering Dept which has kept the tracks still in pathetic conditions. Proof of their quality is evident from the fact that our Rlys were running at 90 to 100 kmph in 1960s with WDM2 and WAM1 Locomotives and they still do so (except few privileged trains) inspite of so much of advancement in rail technology and addition of high powered new generation Locos of WDP4 and WAP7. One hopes the new Railway Minister looks into this aspect very seriously. It is time to close down this hopeless organisation and save thousands of crores rupees of public money. This job can easily be entrusted to IITs whose handful of efficient engineers can provide better technology at much lesser costs. Europe had been running ICEs since 35 years at 150 to 200 kmph. Unfortunately inspite of every IRS Engineer being sent on years of study tour to European counties their value additions are zero. Our Railways run because of dedicated Section Engineers and promote Officers.

Buddies India is geographically a diverse country where you will find deserts plateaus mountainous plain jungle terrains. Each area has its own unique features advantages and limitations too. So its very difficult to maintain uniformity every where.. you might have seen most expensive and technologically advance state of the art car cant be driven in deserts and you will need some unique features for driving a car in mountains and snow.. geographically we are a diverse nation which has all kind of terrains found in world. So we should be happy about it and satisfied with the fact that nature has really been so benevolent to bestow our pyara Bharat with everything which has been distributed by it to whole world. Jaise is video mey do alag engine ka thulana kiya gaya usi prakar, Tata 1210 ka horse power 128, 2200 RPM mey hotha tha, magar Leyland Comet mein engine ka horsepower 112 wohbi sirf 1800 RPM mey detha tha. Lekin ghat chad the waqt Leyland ko koibi truck mukabla nahin karsaktha tha jab highway par Tata ka Raj tha. Luxury bus bi usjamaney mey Leyland ka hua kartha tha jabki local bus jyadatar Tata ka hothithi. Isiliye yeh kehna galt hain ki WAG12 ke wajah se karondonka nuksaan hain. School mey hamey ek past hotha tha "Thulana aur uskey Vipareet". WAG 12 aur WAG9 mey is tharah karenge tho hame patha chalenga ki kismey kya Khoobi hai aur kya Kamtarat. Either change the design to introduce extra bogies,, so that you avoid wheel slip as well or use only on flat routes ,where all the efficiencies can be encashed.

At 1:45, 1 WAG-9 Locomotive has an HP of 9000, and 1 WAG-12 Loco has an HP of 12000. But as WAG-9 Are use ase multiple units, therefore the total HP output is 18000, this is the reason why the G12 Loco failed in between CHANDIL-TATA section. As that is a ghat section, please make corrections, and post correct info. Myself Goods Guard, ANARA, and i work in this section. WAG 12 is mainly built for DFC, its not for Ghat section

Har jagah experiment nahi chalta. G12 apna jagah par sher hai. i.e flat DFC. Isi purpose se hi usko banaya gaya hai. Ghat ya pahar section pe jaisa chalte hai, waisa hi chalana chahiye.

You mentioned that "trials" of WAG12 are being carried out in different zones. So if some improvements are required that will be made based on the outcome of these trials. Therefore I don't think the question of losses incurred should not be pointed out based on trial results. Don't spread negative thoughts, rather try to create a video pointing out what could be done to overcome the draw backs.

Testing phase isiliye chal raha hai.... Alag alag regions mein chalakar hi acchaiyon aur khamiyon ka pata chalega.. Isse WAG-12 ek kharab loco nahi ban jayega.... Zarur iska koi solution niklega.... jaise ki WAG-12 tha jiske suspension problem tha.... usme sudhar karke WAG-12 B ko laya gaya jo ki filhal abhi ki generation (Model) hai....iss problem ko sadharne ke liye shayad WAG-12 3 B ko laya jaaye, jisme ya to weight badhaya jayega, ya phir Co-co arrangement wheel lagenge.... kuch bhi ho sakta hai....

That we already have 2 wag9 multiple unit. Wag12 was designed to increase speed and reduce weight from 2 wag9 unit. That purpose was achieved by changing co-co axle to bo-bo, thus due to 2 less axle and 2 less traction motors the weight came down and speed was increased with gear ratio and software modification.

Problem arises when bureaucrats replace brainy people @ raisina hill. Earlier people used to think, analyse their surroundings, figure out individual requirements like what tractive efforts are required and what locos fulfill those requirements etc. nowadays with IR being too top heavy and full of money making sorts, that things are thrown out of the window. WAG 12 wasn’t required in the first place but people wanted it and they got it. Be happy countrymen.

@@sunboat800 but your example is only limited upto certain areas, some areas of country are getting in the railway map today after 70 years of development, but before that people's opinions were neglected. Diesel locomotives create certain levels of pollution so it's necessary to replace them with electric model now, as most of the pollution in our country causes due to poor basil2-1 type of vehicles

@@sunboat800 Rightly said...this is what I'm trying to tell others...wag 12 was not needed at all...Even those wdg 4g/6g were not needed...waste of tax money...wag12 has speed ratings upto 120kmph and wag 9hc/HH around 100-110...was this 10-20 kmph big difference for freight?? Also apart from those DFC where would a freight train cloak 100+ kmph? Also these Wag 12s were brought to stop using bankers in ghat section which requires additional crews and locos..now the loco failed the main purpose..

2 wag 9HC/H(present varient) can easily outclass wag 12 in terms of tractive effort, Torque and even horsepower..the newest model wag 9HH is way ahead of wag 12..2units of it can generate 18000Hp...Most railfans giving the credit of "India's most powerful locomotive" to wag 12 is baseless.. 😅😅
