Welcome to the world of Wagakki Band. These people are truly professional in everything they do. and I'm glad you started with Eclipse. Most people start with Homura from the 1st Japan tour or Bring me to life from Premium Symphonic Night where Amy Lee was a special guest. The band was founded in 2012 by Poet, composer, pianist and Shigin singer Yuko Suzuhana. Officially started in 2013. Guitarist Machiya is the mastermind behind the arrangement and sound, and also has the final say even though Yuko is the boss. He is also responsible for more than 50% of the songs. He is also a backing vocalist and is the lead vocalist on several songs. Harp en "Koto" (Japan's national instrument) The three string guitar is a "Shamisen" The bamboo flute is a "Shakuhachi" Traditional drums "Wadaiko" They have released 7 solo albums, the last in 2023 Eclipse is on the Tokyo singing album from 2020 and the 5th album. Recommend this one. There are two songs Ikusa = Battle and Hakushu Kassai = applause Wagakki Band - 戦-ikusa- + 拍手喝采 (Hakushu Kassai)/ Dai Shinnenkai 2018 Ashita e no Koukai [ENG SUB CC]

This is a sensational group, #3 on my Japanese Band list. consider listening to their song, Letter with no Name. It's special: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4OxoWV7pLN1Z7s To hear the true contrast within the band, check out the duel song, Homura +Akatsuki no Ito. Rock band killing it, followed by traditional. You also will get to hear some of Beni's work on the shamisen a touch better, which is super special. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqDRhZV6ebKMoNk That said, here's my list of best Japanese bands: 1) Band Maid 2) One Ok Rock 4) Doll$boxx 5) Hanabie. All of those are unique and killer.
This was a beautiful song and a great performance. I saw that I'm already subscribed to them, so obviously I've heard them before. But I can't remember which song it was.

I must know about Wagakki Band since 2016-2017 now. I only remind about them because of Yuko aka "the lady that sings in such a weird way". 🙃 Shigin actually does really sounds... Special to me. The constant use of the "whammy bar" (can't say how to talk about this voice alteration, so i 'm using my own words...) Is something i'm not comfortable with... But i do really love how koto, shakuhachi and shamisen sounds. (Always takes me back to my first love, video games, imma total nerd. The Guilty Gear track "Momentary Life" is awesome. I can also talk about Okami, Otogi 2, Tenchu... And prolly many others... They all use traditional instruments at a given time.) (Recently i also have to talk about Monster Hunter Rise and the kabuki style Crapcom used to introduce monsters... I first thought Yuko was Kabuki, not Shigin. Are they deeply connected? They both about singing and poetry but i haven't seen mentionned relations from wiki) I never took time to listen their soundtrack till today. I like their work. The instrumental is great. Even awesome. But to be honnest, the Shigin stuff easily gets on my nerves.😅High-pitched notes... Whammy bar distorsions... Machine gun fire rate... I don't hate it but... It's about the cultural barrier. (Maybe?) People using such exagerated voices in the west are shown as "caricatural angry people"... And... i'm still not able to remove that picture from my mind when i hear Yuko. So... Childish as i am... i always end laughing. 😅 I'm also extremely sneaky/moderated IRL... You won't see me. You won't hear me. So i easily cast aside/laugh at people using that "caricatural" cliché. I'm the same about western opera. With gals and lads always ending with dumb funny faces so they can get the best voice... I love their work, really, but... They're just so fun to watch... I can't stay serious. The mouth opened wide, the sweat, the muscle contractions... Yuko doesn't "look" funny. She's an elegant woman, all the time. But she "'sounds" funny.
