I was just thinking about how much money these systems keep by not paying for the time we are looking up patients early. How my new manager saw I didn't get my lunch three times in a row but I saw she hadn't paid me for that.

This happened to my mother who was an LPN.the nursing home did not pay holiday, thank goodness she saved her paystubs.she received 5000 in back pay

Worked for 5 different facilities. They all are shady with wages. Shift differentials not included in the overtime. Calling texting emailing off clock.

All the facilities I worked (CNA) in the last few years deduct 30 minutes each shift for lunch unless you tell them that you did not take it. Most people do not take the full break, some never do, and the employer keeps the money. And never mind the two fifteens, they just do not happen anymore. The result is that you are viewed as less if you take brakes.

It's pressuring you to collude in your own abuse. Exploitation is the name of the game and employees that help support that environment are identifying with the abuser so to speak.

You are not seen as less than if you take your breaks. They actually see you as "slow", "stupid", and a "dummy" if you don't. Sorry for those words but they do. Why you think we see people who others view as being lazy or don't do as much move up the ranks. Because they are seen as smart, leaders, etc. The movie The Office is not just a comedy, it's real. Don't let them play those mind games. Take your break. Plus you feel and work better at your job when you do.

Thank you for always dropping relevant nursing information. We as nurses need to be watchful of the coin. We give so much because of the love God placed in us for the patients we serve but pay is due for hard work!

We got back pay from my previous employer here in Michigan around November last year 2022 ( but they did it on their own before getting in legal trouble I guess) we didn't even know why but a lot of us were saying our pay looked weird all last year after they change the pay system. I dipped from there luckily!
