The best part about this is the fact he's used that guitar for a long time and you can 100% tell. The rusty screws keeping the pickups in, the pickups are worn, the grey foam muting the ringing by the nut instead of buying a strap to put there, and even the bridge is rusty. It's good to see this level of humble in the guitar world for a change, instead of just a brand new guitar that's never been used. This is a real guitarist's guitarist.

It sounds like a pitch shifter pedal, probably just a Digitech Whammy or if it's a plugin the pitch shifter in Archertype: Gojira is super good, you can definitely create that effect.

It’s a Jim Root signature jazz master so look up the scale for that. And they most likely use 12-62 Mammoth Slinkies from Ernie Ball. They’re perfect for this tuning (Drop A#). They do use 12-56 as well so maybe they use those too.
