Hey mate. You will need an inlet and outlet valve. Put your head back on with the 4 head bolts, torque them up to 20 nM. with the head on and the inlet valve out, switch on the motor and adjust the pressure higher and lower, you'll be able to see the diaphragm through the inlet valve hole, add a few drops of water to make it easier to see the diaphragms movements. if the pressure does move the diaphragm replace your wear parts and you should be good to go, you will also need to replace the drain valve, thats the switch that is currently broken, it has a cam lobe in the handle which pulls it in and out. This is the update I freed up the inlet valve . Is the diaphragm supposed to look like this or is it supposed to move more ?

@@groovygringo3747 Diaphragm is moving, thats visible by the liquid splashing around, turn pressure up and down to see if splashing gets more and less, this indicates correct hydraulics in the pump internals.

I also found one of the Wagner 505 sitting on the curb for trash. The primer knob was broke also. All you have to do is lift up on the prime knob with a pair of pliers. Or just tighten the locking hex screw on the knob. And it would have worked.

The checkball and spring on the top gets stuck. The diaphragm lools fine. Stuck inlet valve too.

You can obtain a generic knob for the primer valve to suit the shaft diameter. Anticlockwise opens the valve to allow priming. The fact the knob has broken points to bad corrosion in this valve. Replace primer valve. It should prime once you have done that.

I have the 505 and I find I have to pour some water into the valve and tap it (to loosen the ball) and it will start the prime. I have to do that every time with mine. Specially since I only use it about once every 5 yrs. I do find after cleaning to run a bit of reduced down oil into the system for storing it. I need to keep reminding myself of that. I'm helping a friend paint a warehouse and got mine back going. Though, the sprayer is not really spraying correctly... think it's time for a replacement sprayer. Now to decide which one. Hard to find the original 505 sprayer now-days.

No I ended up selling the damn thing but I wish I would have read these comments apparently all I had to do was put both the inlet tub and the outlet tube into the water and it would have primed.

Brother if u put the priming hose in the water it would have pulled the water through. You did all that for nothing

Dont think so ..ive got a nearly new one...they are just nasty little things that only work when they are new
