TCHAIKOVSKY IS MY "ALL AROUND" FAVORITE COMPOSER FOR EVERYTHING - LISZT IS MY FAVORITE FOR MY INSTRUMENT, THE PIANO - BUT WAGNER MASTERED THE INSTRUMENT OF THE ORCHESTRA LIKE NO ONE ELSE AND IS MY FAVORITE COMPOSER FOR THAT INSTRUMENT.......

I USE TO PRETTY MUCH HAVE A 3 WAY TIE FOR FAVORITE CONDUCTORS, BETWEEN LORIN MAZELL, LEONARD SLATKIN AND CLAUDIO ABBADO - BUT NOW WE ARE ALL LUCKY ENOUGH TO LIVE IN THE AGE TO BE AURALLY ASSAULTED BY THE YOUNG GENIUS, GUSTAVO DUDAMEL, AND IF THAT HAPPENS TO YOU, YOU WILL BE WOUNDED BEYOND REPAIR, AND MUST REMAIN HIS SLAVE FOREVER........NOT ONLY DOES GUSTAVO "THE DUDE" YANK THE BEST SOUNDS, (IN ALL HISTORY), OUT OF THE ORCHESTRAS, HE THEN THROWS IT AT YOU WITH HIS DRAMATIC ARM WAVING BIT, WHAT I CALL "THE DANCE" - (AND HE GETS DOWN BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE), FOR THESE REASONS I MUST NOW PUT HIM ABOVE ALL OTHERS !!!

You know that this is something special with what you are hearing and then seeing the musicians with their gestures and movements are all into this piece of magic. The 'like' button isn't enough.

Sono d'accordo con te: un like non riesce ad esprimere ciò che provo ascoltando questa ouverture del Tannhauser. Mia figlia ha " consumato" una cassetta a forza di sentirla.. Un abbraccio a tutti gli amanti della musica

In effetti c'è una grande differenza fra questa esecuzione e quella della Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra...stessa musica,stesso direttore,ma qui il suono è fantastico...grandi Berliner!!

It is quite amazing how Abbado draws out the character of the music, regardless of whose music he is conducting! I was at one of his last concerts in Lucerne, where he conducted a breathtaking Mozart and Beethoven.

Salve, io ho molto amato il direttore Sir Georg Solti. Tanti anni fa in televisione ho ascoltato una serie di lezioni sui vari strumenti dell'orchestra tenute dal grande Maestro. Parlando di Wagner, mi fa piacere che la sua musica sia così amata aldilà delle accuse legate al Führer. Che la musica serva ad unirci tutti in un abbraccio universale. Аббадо хороший музыкант, похоже репетиции проводит толково. Однако на концерте оркестр ( кстати, великолепный) играет сам, а дирижёр часто машет мимо музыки. Я оркестровый музыкант с 36 летним стажем, знаю о чём пишу. По такой руке очень трудно играть. Музыканты меня поймут.
