The sunrace 11 speed cassette that comes with wahoo kickr v5 trainer is a 11-28T , while my bike although 11 speed but the number of teeth is different, 11-30T cassette. Will the bike be plug and play to trainer (and vice versa) or will there be a need for RD adjustments (b-limit screws, cable tension, etc) since they have different number of teeth on the cassette? Or is it recommended to install cassette with same number of teeth (11-30T) into wahoo kickr v5 to make it plug and play? Thanks!

With a thru axle do you use for the wahoo kicker Smart Trainer? I was told in the bIke shop to order one so it would be long enough as the one on the bike they didn’t think would be (my quick release was much easier with my old bike I had on the WAhoo Trainer;). By the Robert Axle Project website, it said to order a Lightning bolt 12mmX163MMX1.5 thread; however it did say their axles weren’t for a direct drive trainer but a wheel on trainer. Do you know if the axle I ordered will work with the new Jamis Renegade bike I purchased for the Wahoo Smart Trainer? Thank you, your help is appreciated.

Hello Chris. I have and issue with the compatibility of kickr/bike even though, on paper this shouldn't be and issue. I'm running a shimano 105 11-28 cassette with a thru-axle. My kickr (V5) should perfectly set up for this, however my rear derailleur is unable to reach my top 3 gears on the back. Nothing that messing with limiting screws and adjustment barrels with solve. Can you help me? Thank you.
@ChrisEnockson3 жыл бұрын
Without having the bike with me the things I would initially check are the limit screws, the cable tension, the cassette setup, the functionality of the shifter, derailleur, and cabling. If it's more involved than that I would need to see it.

Great video. Wonder if you can help me. I'm experiencing a lot of chain noise. I've checked the spacer and that's correct as is height. I've tried indexing and adjusting the rear derailleur but I can't get the chain from making a noise in most gears. Is there a special way to adjust the gears on a Kickr?
@ChrisEnockson3 жыл бұрын
The gear adjustment is the same as doing it with a rear wheel In. Is it making noise in all gears or just a few?
@47Seagull3 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisEnockson thanks for you reply. Noise is mainly in the big front chainring and the 3/4 smallest back. It's a new chain and properly cleaned and lubed. I've indexed and adjusted several times without success.
@ChrisEnockson3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, here's some things to consider. Derailleur hanger alignment. Friction on cable (old cable or new cable) possibly live the cable. Cassette spacers are in correctly. Chain and cassette age. Old chain on new cassette will often skip.

Does it matter if my bike has an 11-32 cassette? The one that comes with the Kickr is an 11-28 if I'm not mistaken?
@ChrisEnockson3 жыл бұрын
No, not an issue. It the cassette you had was smaller like an 11-28 and went to a bigger one like an 11-32 your chain might be too short or you derailleur cage could be too short but smaller is no issue.
@solefreak23 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisEnockson Okay that makes sense. But what about gear indexing? If the gears have been indexed whilst on the 11-32, would that need to be re-done for the smaller cassette? I'm only asking as I'm currently experiencing a slight grinding noise when in certain gears, difficult to explain but I know its not normal. This stops when peddling which lead me to believe its the drivetrain and not the Kickr itsef.
@ChrisEnockson3 жыл бұрын
Tuning will be the same with different gear ratio. There might be a slight difference between how the cassette sits on your trainer and how it sits on you wheel do it may need to be adjusted.

The spacers (or lack there of) will not damage the cassette or the trainer. If you put it on and it doesnt have enough the cassette will simply have play in it and wont tighten down. If that is the case add a spacer and your good.
