Super video. Very informative. I've researched a lot about tents for instance and never before saw a mention about the possibility of pulling back the tent fly half the way, which must be very useful in that kind of clima. Also all related with campsite, water and food advices.

I am glad you found my video informative. I thought at least some people might want some usefull information (camping permit, water...) in addition to beautifull landscape views. I love that it is possible to use the tent fly half way. That is how I slept the first night. I felt it gave me a little bit of cover, while yet let me enjoy the view and the advantage of great ventilation.

Wie kann man bei dem Lärm schlafen :-)) Was mir besonders gefallen hat ist, daß Du noch mal dargestellt hast, auch Quellwasser zu filtern. In der ersten Überlegung wäre mir das nicht sooo bewußt gewesen, aber Hawaii ist ja auch schon in der Klimazone, wo sich so einiges im Wasser herumtreibt. In Südamerika war es ja unabdingbares Tagesgeschäft und schon bedenklich Wasser nur anzusehen. Aber ganz klar: Das sollte man immer im Blick haben. Take care Jerome

Bei dem Lärm schlafen...irgendwann bin ich halt doch eingeschlafen, nur um dann von einem besonders lauten Krachen der Wellen wieder aus dem Schlaf gerissen zu werden. Ich lag dann wach mit beunruhigenden Tsunami Fantasien. LOL Die Warnung alles Wasser vor dem Trinken zu behandeln/filtern stammt vom State Department, welches die Camping Permits ausgibt. Es gab genügend Leute welche mir sagten, das Wasser aus der Quelle sei okay zum so trinken und haben das wohl auch gemacht, vermutlich ohne Schaden davon zu nehmen. Ich halte mich aber lieber an die Weisheit "Better Save Than Sorry". Ganz besonders wenn ich in einem fremden Land am Reisen bin, brauche ich keine derartige Erkrankungen.

Nee, Du! Krankheiten braucht man überhaupt nicht. Schon gar nicht, wenn man die durch wenig Zeit- und Ausrüstungsaufwand sehr gut vermeiden kann!!

Danke. Mit dem Vertonen von Original Sound und Voice Over gibt es noch Schwierigkeiten. Muss mir demnächst ein anderes Videoschnitt Programm besorgen, welches mehrere Tonspuren übereinander erlaubt.

Hi! Great informative video. Just wondering, what was your estimated backpack weight while hiking to the campsite?

Hey. I reckon the pack weight was around 15-16 kilos (33-35 lbs). There are a few things that I wouldn't pack in anymore. Like my goretex jacket. Much too warm. Even if it did rain, that jacket would be unbearably warm :-)

Alpintiger thanks. My friends and I are planning to camp there next year in July. Im just figuring out if this hike is doable. Don’t have any backpacking gear yet and so I’m looking into it right now. Good to know that I don’t need anything warm. What month did you go and hike there?

I hiked the Waimanu trail last week of March and the Na'Pali Coast first week of April. The heavy duty goretex jacket was the item I wished I had left at home. Instead I'd only take the very thin wind jacket, which isn't totally water proof though. The one item I bitterly regreted not having with me....moskito repellent! Ugh...they loved me. I was covered in bites. You can even see it in the videos on my arms, legs and face. On the beach, with the sea breeze it is not a problem, but hiking through the humid jungle, particulare in the shady valleys were the streams flowed, they came to feast on my blood.

LOL. I feel that my morning looks are not all that glorious: unkept and a little tired out, for the surf thunderously pounded the beach all night long, just a few meters behind the seawall. A few times that night, I swear, a wave hit the beach so hard, it made the ground under my tent shudder. So I thought. Or maybe I was dreaming. Thanks for feedback concerning the sound.
