I moved from L.A area to Hilo. All our belongings were held on a shipping strike at Matson freight Lines . With 2 small boys it was terrible to existe on just a suitcase. We shipped a custom cabinet buiseness of ours. People of Hilo came with items to help us live. I can never thank their Kindness! A beautiful place and the people too.

I never comment on videos but I felt I had to comment on yours. Your video literally the most wholesome, respectful, and just made me very warm to watch because of the way you just keep giving back to the beauty and sovereignty of nature and just saying/showing gratitude for being able to travel and be there on the Big Island. I used to live there and am finally going back after 13 years in just 3 days and your video helped me feel such a huge appreciation for the island and God’s artwork. You also do not sugar coat if places are more difficult to hike or snorkel and I really like that. Not many other videos seem to be as honest. Thank you for the beautiful take on the Big Island! You really shine your light through your videos.

We spend half the year on the Big Island and your video is a wonderful representation of Hawaii. When we have visitors, we do the exact activities. On your next visit, when you exit the airport take a left and see the Kohala coast, A-Bay (best sunsets on the island),Hapuna Beach (rated #1 beach in the US), the old sugar towns near Hawi, and explore cowboy country in Waimea. Also spend time in Kona for great waterfront restaurants and check out the pier where the Ironman Triathlon starts and finishes. Aloha 🌺🤙🏽

My daughter and I are visiting from Alaska. It’s our first relaxing vacation in five years, and we are absolutely loving it. Thank you for the wonderful overview and great ideas. Your photography really is stunning; I can’t imagine how you get such large and beautiful shots. Loved seeing your personalities shine through, too. Thanks again - you’ve helped me shape our itinerary with some thrilling as well as sacred spots to check out and which I hadn’t heard of previously.

I live here, on the slopes of Hualalai mountain, above Kailua-Kona. I am always eager to see what travelers think of this island. Over the years I have seen dozens of "tourist videos" about the Big Island, but yours is definitely among the very best! You have selected some of the best spots to visit, you show maps of where, your photography is absolutely amazing (probably the best I've ever seen), and you have edited it in a way to tell the story and hold viewer interest. Of course there was much that you didn't have time to include, but so many videos spend too much time on restaurant reviews, jumping off cliffs into the water and other esoterica. Also, many videographers have a poor sense of timing when editing. By keeping it simple, this video is as good an introduction as it gets, and I will share it with friends. Aloha!

Wonderful narrative. My parents lived on da Big Island for years so most of the places you explored are familiar from time spent there. I love your deep respect and appreciation for people and place, because that is exactly the attitude that makes you a traveller, not just another tourist. That way your experiences and the people you meet become treasures to carry with you and savour for years to come. You came, saw and got it right. Wish I were there and will have to plan a return visit.

Yellow Road to the Green Sand Beach is worth walking there and back. It will complement the destination in an unforgettable experience. It will provide great stills and footage, too. Besides a stronger emotional impact, there will be less harm/erosion to the place: in many areas, the road cut into the incredible yellow-orange soil as deep as about 5-6 feet.

Thank you so much for sharing! I didn’t realize how much there really is to do and see on the big Island. I always dreamed of visiting one of the Hawaiian islands since I was a little girl, and my dream came true last year when I went to Maui. It was amazing! Just a heads up Waipio valley is now closed indefinitely. Too many people would trash the beach or not pick up after themselves so the residents of the valley closed it to everyone not even people who live on the island can visit anymore. Please always clean up after yourself no matter where you go. Also "two step" is called Pu'uhonua O' Honaunau pronounced Ho-now-now or the city of refuge. If you are blessed to see the dolphins please do not chase them or harass them which looks like you guys respected them very well, more so just for the viewers that see your video and decide to visit. Amazing video and footage of the island Jaychel.

Aloha, blessings and abundance, This YouTub is an excellent source of thoughtful resources for Hawaii Island, good details. Despite of the facts it is definitely disappointing that you didn’t mention the Aina, respecting the Island, or it’s illegal to harassing or touching of turtles, dolphins, seals and other sea life. (Fines 1,000-10,500) Respecting the locals, not TRESPASSING where posted and following posted driving signage. As you noted, the Hawaiian National and family members are friendly, helpful and share ALOHA unless guests are not being respectful, disparaging to the Islands. Mahalo both of you!❤

That's like the worse place to experience a malasada, they should be made to order so hot when you get them not sitting in a case waiting to be sold. Tex Drive in Honoka'a had the best or even the malasada trucks on the side of the road make them fresh to order. No comparison...

We always have them after going to Hapuna beach and there was an older gentlemen that was in the small trailer making them to order..he was a gem...was there last week and there are now 3 other Food trucks at the side of the road. Hapuna Beach now also charges $5 for non residents to use the beach...gets pricey if you are there for the week.

Raised on the big island my entire childhood and teenhood. It's a magical special place in it's own right. for a vist. to live there present day has 2 major problems. 1. only one hospital on the entire island and 2. cost of living is ranked one of the highest of all states. a vist is worth your while for certain. but my home is impossible to thrive these days.

Wow I didn't realize that there was only one hospital on the whole island, especially because it is such a large island! Is it the one in Hilo? I believe we passed it on the way to the Boiling Pots if I'm remembering correctly. It is such a beautiful island for sure!! We loved our visit. Thanks for sharing!!

@@JaychelAdventure , there are at least 4 hospitals on the Big Island, and probably 5 or six more urgent care facilities, which local people and tourists can visit anytime.
@StyleshStorm

@@Bobchai There's only one in Hilo unless something changed while I was away. Urgent Care facilities there are lackluster and below the national average for healthcare standards. I love my hometown and original stomping grounds of Hilo, but it isn't for those in poor or uncertain health.

@@JaychelAdventure I suppose Kona side might have they're own. should've worded it better. there's much less options on The Big Island that's nearby in case of a health emergency. Honolulu has The Queens medical center which is Rank #1 in the entire state along with various other local hospitals 🏥 like Wahiawa District and Palimomi. The Big Island 🏝️ is glorious don't get me wrong. But only if you are in excellent health.

Yeah and it's not a very advanced hospital so many people, locals and visitors who end up there must be rushed to Oahu. They currently cannot even handle dialysis!!! Can you believe that?? Not joking. Don't encourage the whole world to come here, it's getting bad for local people, which makes resentment to outsiders grow.

Yes, and keep the country country! We don't want the whole world coming here, big island as a whole isn't set up like all other islands for tourism and a ton of people to flock here, it's where we grow food, it's the country. Traffic is worse than Oahu on some parts now smh

@@tomp6685 much of our economy is driven by tourism, however most tourism based business owners are from the mainland at this point. And many tourist act like Karens. People treat Hawaii like its f'n Disneyland. It is annoying

FYI, the shuttles found to get to the green sand beach are illegal, when patrol comes around they flee, speaking to an officer they said those “shuttles” are just locals cashing in on tourist they’ll exaggerate the time to walk the trail just to get you to pay for a lift, their vehicles destroy the trails
