To those unhappy/unimpressed with the Pudding character reversal, consider this: 1 - There were obvious red flags. The Lola flashback should have given you something to think about. Her whispering to Luffy about the red wedding is a giveaway in itself. Why won't she just openly act evil when Opera was around? 2- There was once a time Pudding was considered good. The Reiju scene reveal prompted many to believe she was evil. At the time nobody was complaining of "bullshit" writing, except those who said it was too predictable. 3 - True, the Pudding flashback came out of nowhere. The timing was off. But then it wouldn't be "good" writing if the flashback came earlier. After all, we can admit that Pudding is one of the most interesting characters in this arc. So having her flashback earlier would ruin the shock value. 4 - Pudding's childhood discrimination clearly does not make her a good person on account of her monologues. 5 - It is strange that Big Mom discriminates against Pudding in her childhood. This is the only legit complaint I share partially. Oda could have at least hinted at it. But then if he did hint at it, people would immediately assume that she is unhappy or "good". 6 - the whole Pudding situation was not bad in itself, just the way it was executed. Things were just thrown at our faces. 7 - the arc is not over. You can make a reasonable assessment when the arc concludes. Remember Lola's statement that Big Mom would help the Strawhats? 8 - Pudding is not supposed to be the main antagonist. She is nonetheless important. But her being evil like Big Mom would be redundant.

I don't know why people are hating over this chapter because Oda made Pudding into 360. I think this chapter actually make sense especially in real life. I thought the twist was well done. Admit it, most of us weren't expecting Sanji to react the way he did. It's a lot more interesting and unexpected than having the plan go down exactly as we thought. And it gives major development to pudding, one of the arcs major antagonists. Oda never makes characters evil for the sake of being evil. It makes sense that the one to bring out her softer side is Sanji.

I didn't expect Sanji to kick Pudding; he literally said that he couldn't kick a woman if his life depended on it. Sanji still missed out on character development by not being able to keep his head out of his dick for a woman who was eager to kill him and drove him to tears. He lucked out because she just so happened to have a poorly foreshadowed sob story over her third eye.
