Great song penned and sung by Herb, an ol'boy from Berkeley, CA where I lived in the 50's, 70's and 80's. I moved to Berkeley from LA area and Herb moved from Berkeley to the LA area.

Nice job Herb. Your version isn’t quite where the Seldom Scene is. But think of this, you created the most memorable Seldom Scene song ever in all of bluegrass.

Not Seldom Scene level ending harmony, but John’s mandolin work is best I’ve ever heard, especially the crosspicking fills in verse 3.
