my first language is hebrew, and I study archaeology, so I'm very interested in this topic . I'd like to point that the word "Be-reshit" בראשית deos NOT mean exactly "in a/the begining". it has no meaning connecting to the word Hat-cha-la התחלה which means "begining" in reference to time. Instaed, its based on the root "Rosh" ראש which means - head, so its more like "in the source/head of " rather than "in the/a begining". hope that makes since. Hebrew is built differently, just like u cant translate directly words from east asian languages into english. I hope to utilize my knowladge in hebrew in studies outside the hebrew speaking population, which is only about 7-8 million people worldwide.

another example to how weird hebrew is: the word Shaa-naa שנה means both "reoccurrence" AND "change". so its used to describe a year, as years are happening in a cycle again and again, but it is ALSO the root word for all the verbs that describe "change/modify". and just lately I relize that there is no conflict here, as in an ever-changing universe, anything that is "happening again" actually is different. nothing can ever truly "reoccur". עברית שפה קשה
