I would definitely like to see you react to more Veil of Maya, especially the False idol album. Quality and production wise it is visibly better than the Matriarch. It is less chaotic and more djenty/groovy. It is visible change of the sound. It sounds simillar to Periphery. I think you you will enjoy it much more 😉

I was at that concert last night too! happened to be my first one aswell, it was one of the best experiences of my life! Gojira were amazing but i was surprised by how much i liked the other two bands, like alien weaponry were fucking crazy and they had such an amazing stage presence

I thought the sound in the venue wasn’t great man. The support (especially AW) we really good - but I feel as though Gojira were let down by the acoustics in the venue and the weird rules for the floor section. I could barely hear Joe during certain tracks - his voice was drowned by the rest of the band from where I was standing

Yeah. You’re incorrect. Production, riffs, vocals, everything is better in Matriarch. For me was the best metalcore/Djent album of that year.

I’d have to say matriarch was a better album overall. I do like that they started using the drop F# tuning on False Idols and that it’s carried into their new songs, but I still would have to say Matriarch as whole album was way better. A lot of the songs on False Idols were forgettable for me.

@@phokyew699 Matriarch just doesn't do it for me. I only like maybe half the songs on that album. I'm constantly skipping songs from it. Just doesn't resonate with me like False Idol does. Matriarch feels awkward. I guess because it was their first album after a vocalist change. Felt like they were looking for their new sound with Lukas during that album, then found it with False Idol.

Would love to see you check Counterparts - You're Not You Anymore. It's not like technically impressive (especially after listening to Vildhjarta), but their breakdowns with melodies and lyrics may hit you pretty hard.

Well that was a waste of 8 minutes. That being said, Veil of Maya is not signed to 3DOT Recordings but to Sumerian Records which is the label Periphery was signed to previously. They already have a bit of a history with Periphery. Misha produced and co-wrote Eclipse, and the song Punisher contains a sample from and makes fun of the "periphery sucks" video. I'm hoping there's a Spencer feature on the next single.
