Beautiful! Lots of winners in those photographs. I'm not physically able to get out and trek around right now due to my health, so watching videos like this is almost like being there myself. I miss getting out and just walking around and shooting. Definitely DO NOT touch the glass jars etc in the little hut; that's obviously drug paraphernalia and you don't want to be touching that! I'd have drowned the little fire as well. Whether you scared off someone doing drugs or camping they didn't build a proper fire pit, and it's not like there aren't enough rocks around, so it was dangerous to leave it smoldering especially in drought conditions, so you guys did the right thing.

What an incredible place! You are so right, the landscape is absolutely gorgeous! When looking upstream I saw so many beautiful areas that have the appearance of a Bob Ross painting. One of my favorite things is listening to and watching the water cascading over the rock formations and land shapes and then turning into a waterfall. It's so hard to describe the beauty! Wonderful underwater footage and you looked like you were really enjoying that refreshing water, you sure got some awesome shots, just to name a couple, that was so cool when you were under that waterfall, the beautiful nature's carpet, and also looking up watching the water fall over and down the reservoir was so neat too. Not sure what that little building structure was, but that was cool too! Your photos are beautiful, as always! Amazing video JP, thank you!

I used to live in Haliburton Ontario and this reminds me so much of the thousands of acres up there. My front yard was on a decently sized lake and my backyard backed onto our street, with the forest on the other side. A forest so big you could definitely die in it if you got lost. I would go on short hikes into the woods, on paths people had previously made, but never really explored. Qhich was most definitely for my safety. Not only did I not have a feather's weight of wilderness training of any kind, I had gotten my hip replaced right after I had moved there (I was 19 and moved in with my grandparents so they could help me.) Anyway, there was a little stream right beside my house that came from somewhere in the woods, and emptied into the previously mentioned lake. Watching this is really making me wish I had followed that stream up to see if it opened up. I know for sure there were a couple of little pools not even a full minute from the road, but that forest is a little denser than the one you're showing us, and so it was a little more dangerous to stray from a path, even if the stream would work to prevent you from getting lost. It was so far from stagnant and so full of rocks that so long as it's summer, and I knew what I could and could not eat (my family and I had found both blue and raspberries on the outskirts of the woods more than a few times), that I could drink the water to keep alive at least a few weeks.

Looks to me that the large cast iron "thing" is a screen pot. Catches dirt and debris at the reservoir intake to prevent it from clogging the pipe. It would sit vertically inn regards to the pipe resting on the reinforced "x" cast in the bottom. Note that the shape of the associated piping resembles a trap....like used under sinks. Inside the pot is a removable screen basket. The top plate ( cap) provides access for cleaning

With a pipe that size, you will find the remains of a mill or processing plant, it was probably their main power source, doubt one that size was just for washing coal.

Love this video. There were too many amazing sights to choose a favorite. Some of the shots at the swimming hole looked like it had interesting rock formations in it. Ended up being the reflection on the water. That looks like a great way to spend a hot day. Could the large pipe have been hooked up to the dam back before it was decommissioned? The shelter could have been a place for someone to stay while monitoring the dam during flood events and access the valves to increase flow so the dam wasn't topped? Or, could it have once held a streamflow gage to monitor output just below the dam? Thanks for taking us along on another of your wonderful adventures.

I happened to wake up in a lot of pain...cancer sucks...and I started looking at my watch later Playlist and saw I had saved this video a while back. I am guessing about the time I had my cancer surgery. This place is so incredible. The sound of the water, the scenery and just the atmosphere is so incredibly beautiful. Have you thought of creating another YT channel that is centered around relaxation. I personally watch tons of relaxation videos that are scenic and have flowing water. If you made a relaxation channel you would blow other people's out of the water ( no pun intended) because of your attention to details in your videos. Close up shots of moving water, lots of location shots and the sound quality of the moving water really is impeccable.. My whole family watches relaxation channels because we all in some form or fashion suffer from insomnia. I have certain ones I watch but they don't get up close and personal. Each waterfall makes its own sound. Hearing various water sounds and showing the movement is what you are really good at. Just a thought. I would watch in a heartbeat. ✌

Judging by the way that fire is smoldering, I say it been left like that for a hour or two hours at the most likely someone or a few people are camping there or there could be a run away person there.

The orange sludge is harmless iron oxidizing bacteria. Eve municipal water supplies have this bacteria in your local drinking water. Sometimes it is a thin oily film on top of black water tanned brown from oak trees. It is also appears as a thick orange foam from iron in local ston formations at the surface and underground.

Looking at the location on Google Earth it looks like a holiday home of some sort (won't provide the name for the sake of not giving away the location) was constructed up on the hill above between 1999 and 2005. At some point between 2005 and 2008 a creek next to the holiday home appears to have been dammed up to create a pond near the holiday home. It seems likely that the grassy access road with the culverts is related to the holiday home and pond up the hill. I imagine that the access road may have had a split off leading to the chain link fence you found by the dam; there's a paved road further away that goes by the holiday house where there's a fence and a large number of private property signs (at least from what I can tell by street view on Google Earth).

We have a few natural Sulfer wells in my area and they look orange like those you showed, some people actually drink it for the minerals, the water is clear but leaves that orange stain.
