Waiting for God was a British sitcom that ran on BBC1 from 28 June 1990 to 27 October 1994 starring Graham Crowden as Tom and Stephanie Cole as Diana, two spirited residents of a retirement home who spend their time running rings around the home's oppressive management and their own families.

Stephanie Cole was 49 when the first season came out. Bizarre!

@@jane1975 I understand that but I wish they actually would cast more older actresses instead of making people look older.

@@sheilaclarke3707 There a many reasons as to why they don't do that, 9 times out of 10 an actor, whether male or female will be out of work so it is a very difficult profession in the first place, narrowing down the field for authentic reasons is going to make it even harder. At the time of casting this sitcom which I guess was 1989, there were possibly only a very narrow margin of older actresses to play the role, that were talented and willing to go through the work involved and were mobile. You forget that there may be mobility issues also around the age Cole is portraying so there is the insurance element for the production company as well. Actors do their research, Ms Cole probably based her character on someone she knew, possibly a relative or she met a lot of women that age that were like her character and drew upon that for her portrayal, she was probably only 1 of 7 that they looked at and the best one.

Hahaha real talk it’s a miracle that they aren’t driven to the point of jumping off the sunshine skyway. Graham Crowden was a great man that was in many productions that celebrated human equality.
