I am not deaf, but I had a deaf teacher that taught ASL in my high school. After befriending her and immersing myself in the their culture I had a new-found respect for the deaf community. They can do anything they want and them not being able to hear never effects them if they don't want it to. I hope to be able to take more classes one day and able to be so fluent that it would be like second nature to me. :)

Totally love this video. As a hearing guy that loves and respects the Deaf Community, I agree on the fact that hearing people should stop the ignorance and listen. You don't have to hear to listen. Remember hearing community like it's said in this video "A deaf person can do anything a hearing person can except hear". Deaf Community be proud always and don't let anybody make you feel like you're not wonderful. This is a beautiful and special community. :)

I agree with womanatwittsend, don't just think automatically that all hearing people fall under the same catagory. Some hearing may think they are "better" but some of us actually take the time, like me, to learn ASL and communicate with Deaf people, and know that they are 100% as important as any hearing person. great video too!

I love this song, I really do. I have deafness running through MY family... I know people make fun of our community because 'we are deaf or we talk with our hands, we can't talk with our mouths...'' Well, lemme say something to the hearing (even though I am hearing, but hard of hearing) people, the deaf community is JUST LIKE the hearing, we just can't hear... We do things a little different, yes, but we are all alike. The 17 people to dislike, didn't understand this I s'pose... LOVE THIS SONG!!

Video shows deaf people as strong, intelligent, creative and deserving to be treated as quote "normal" people. Being legally blind myself, I share the desire to be afforded the same opportunity. Everyone in this country needs to stop treating disability as something which is either good or bad. It simply is. The disabled need to unite and see their commonalities instead of their differences. Until we do, we will never be seen as anything more than object of pitty or source of inspiration!
