"We held a funeral for my tits." is definitely one hell of an opening line. Will be looking forward to seeing the reworked version of the monologue since it's got so much potential!

“Tell me more” is the best explanation I’ve ever heard of what you want the opening of a monologue (or any performance, really) to accomplish. People (supposedly) have notoriously short and fickle attention spans, but we’ll stay up all night or be late to work for a story we’re interested in. No matter what the story is about, or how it’s presented - song, dance, acting, even visual arts - if the audience *needs* to know more, you’ve got ‘em. (Always love your incisive and insightful takes on stuff, Brendan. So happy for you making it a full-time thing. Keep it up!)

I love that you're not only highlighting other folx's work, but you're taking the next step and offering your feedback. Having someone else be invested in your work can go a long way in terms of motivation. Keep writing, y'all!

The critiques are so good! I hope the artists who got chosen feel encouraged to keep going. I liked the concepts for each piece so it would be great to see them go to new strengths in the future.

I think specifying that they were fan’s works could have worked better for a title to get eyes to it. But I really like this kind of content, though! It’s very fun and important to do. It’s wonderful that you can share what you know to help others.

About the monologue, I've been told that sometimes the first few pages of what you write for a story are really just the background that you need to figure out for yourself before getting to the beginning of the "real" story that you want to tell your reader (or audience). Cutting it out doesn't mean that it's worthless, the audience just might not need to know it. Or some of it could be put in later after you have people's attention.

Hey Wait in the Wings! I was wondering if you could make a video on the history and the many changes and revivals behind Sondheim’s Company. I have seen Raúl Esparza’s version and Neil Patrick Harris’ version here on KZbin and I am seeing it on Broadway in a few weeks. It’s really interesting to see its changes as well as the parallels between the original cast recording from 1970. Thanks!
