Thank you for this wonderful story and powerful, sad history. The hurt of colonialism is still deep, from then till now, I see parallels with Palestine, Bless.

@@dixonbeejay An indigenous people who are being killed just like our tūpuna were? There are too many similarities.

September 9 2024, after the tragic passing of our Koro Kiingi Tuheitia, and announcement of our Beautiful Kuni, the yearning to learn more of my Maori history. This episode is very pertinent to my Waikato history. My Nanny Rangitoto Waerata Graham was born in Rangiriri 1894, died in 1977 in Taranaki. Her Father Alfred Francis Arawhena Werohiko Graham - 1852 -1942, Mother Rukuwai Kamahi - 1850 - 1942. Nga Mihi for this incredible piece of History. The oppression our tupuna have suffered for so long. My upbringing was more pakeha than anything. My older siblings were born on the Turangawaewae Marae Ngaruawahia in a whare right opposite the main gates on River Road. The whare was moved from the property of land back in the 1970s. I was born in Palmerston North, so i missed out big time on the marae .. I migrated to Qld 1986, and have never had the chance to visit Ngaruawahia since. BUT I shall return soon. My Tupuna are buried at Taupiri .. Nanny, Auntys, Uncle, Nephew. Loved this episode.
