I purchased a new 230 Wake (Sea Doo) last summer. I'm out on the lakes surrounding Dallas / Ft. Worth and I can't tell you how many compliments I get from people on this boat. I watched every video including this and did months of research before purchasing. In the end - Sea Doo is the total package for me - I love the comments though - If you're considering purchasing let me help you figure out which is better - neither. It comes down to personal preferece. Take them both out for a spin!!

OK good video Steve. I like the fact that you are comparing real time and it doesnt look like you rehearsed this video. I'm actually getting ready to buy a boat [no joke just got back from Mission Motor Sports in Irvine CA]. We've been to several dealers and have looked at over 30 boats. I looked at both 09 Yamaha 232 Limited and the 09 Seadoo Challenger 230. Your Video defanitely helped me make a final decision. The Seadoo seems a little cheapy.. Yamaha says quality. I'm buying YAMAHA...

I'd rather take the Seadoo.....hands down

Actually I would. That 20 valve engine yamaha has been making since 1988. Granted they were originally put in motorcycles, But it has been engineered for a watercraft. I actually own a 2006 AR and would take that over the SeaDoo any day. The boat is about 500 pounds lighter and no supercharger to deal with and it runs on 87 octane fuel. Bet the Sea Doo can not do that. And the Yamaha is considerably cheaper to buy.

Seems like a real cool setup. However you might want to include footage of the wake and show some wakeboarders riding the wake made by the boat.

I think the seadoo 230 wake is a better looking and more stylish boat. I am actually in the market for a boat and if anybody knows some good pro's and con's of these boats like mantinence etc. please message me back and let me know what you think. I need the help

@specialk18701 IDK if you have gotten your boat yet, but I will say this, SeaDoo cant match Yamaha for reliability. Also if you have never tried to dock a jet boat or get one oa trailer, you might want to try it out first, its not as easy as it is with a sterndrive or outboard. Bearing that in mind, the Yamaha has a huge advantage with independent engine controls, you can do 360s within the length of the boat

Speaking from experience indeed the Rotax powered boats cannot touch the reliability but. Take away those superchargers and they could. The Rotax has always been a fantastic engine. And what I would give for the what the Chapperal or Seadoo can do at the dock. They use a lateral thrusting nozzle for low speed and reverse and they definitely out do the yamaha unless the operator is experienced with using independent thrusting. Most operators aren't proficient with it and many don't even know you can do it

LOL, I think the 230 had a cooler or extra gear on the back of it, AND had the bimini up whereas the sea don't didn't have a bimini... or it wasn't up, and no extra gear on back. Just sayin!

The problem with seadoo is there boats always have problems and are not reliable the way Yamaha is and I would take reliability over speed any day

@trappercv935 Polaris,(BRP/Sea-Doo) makes quads, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and a host of other vehicles. (I own a Buell 1125CR which has a Rotax {BRP} engine in it). They are both great manufacturers. It all boils down to personal brand preference... There really isn't a wrong choice. However, IMHO the Sea-Doo is the best bang for the buck.

Hmmmmm.....I'm not stupid .....Why Steve did you not keep the camera on the throttle and cut scene quickly and then show Yamaha close when sea do was pulling away? I think I know Why...Because 360hp Yamaha cannot keep up with 430 hp seadoo....Also why did you not do 2 races? I believe you are trying to fool me....Next time keep the camera where it was on the throttle get your hand off it and keep it there for 20 sec without cutting scene because I saw the Yamaha starting to lose bad before u had camera turn and I thought I heard engine noise get lower....This video does not prove speed except for first 4 seconds where you see seadoo pulling away...some reason he cuts scene instead of letting us see race...hmmmm....I'm getting sea do 510hp wake and I can't wait to see a 242 Yamaha.....ill give KZbin a real view of Yamaha being beaten...

Super Mario Plush Bros 1 just keep that camera rolling when all that supercharged HP which barely pulls away from Yamaha leaves you broke down and that 242 goes rite on by you. There is a reason Yamaha has completely dominated the jet boat market. I'll take reliability over some worthless HP any day.
@ryanskare66706 жыл бұрын
The super charged Rotax has a history of trouble. to start you will be rebuilding the seals on the chargers right after the break in period and then about every season there after. The other thing you are missing is the hull design. The Seadoo uses the same wide brow that the 242 uses. There is a reason the 230 series is preferred over the 242 and that is all around performance. The 230 is simply faster. The Rotax powered boat will take the hole shot, that is simple physics. it makes more power but in the long run, as you saw, the Yamaha boat has a more efficient hull design and will eventually out run the seadoo. I see it every day in the summer. There are Chapperals and seadoos on the lake I frequent that are on their 5th or 6th overhaul or 2nd re-power while the Yamaha boats of the same years are on their 2 or 3,000th hour and nothing but plugs, oil, and the occasional drive seal.

haha that's a terrible video. I like the Sea-Doo better personally simply because of looks and it seems more suited to towing. That being said, I am a big Yamaha fan and think it is probably more reliable than the Sea-Doo. And to VSUPARHAM BRP/SeaDoo has absolutely no affiliation with Polaris.
