Waking up a huge wild elephant - guess what´s gonna happen with the camera on the end?

African Parks and government of Chad took a decision to count all remaining elephant populations in the country and assure their protection against growing poaching pressure. In order to achieve that, beside other measures, we collared many wild elephants with a GPS and radio collar allowing to track the herds for up to few years. On this video from 2013 by Lake Chad, the veterinarian Pete Morkel puts an antidote to wake up the huge elephant bull - named Mandela by local rulers. Arthur F. Sniegon risks his new camera and in craving for getting great footage places the device few steps from the 6 tons heavy elephant. What will happen?

Does anyone know if the Wild Kingdom episode showing an elephant being given the antagonist to wake him up is available? Very interesting! The vet pushes in the naloxone and the elephant gets up in about five seconds and proceeds to destroy all the equipment. It shows Marlin Perkins doing the 100 meter dash in record time to escape!

Curious from Canada: Obviously we don't have elephants here, unless they are in captivity, but all in all, what DID happen to the camera? the end of the vodeo shows the elephant having walked out of range of the other camers used to sow him waking up, and as far as I can understand the camera that was installed on th elephant was mounted more or less on the back of his neck. Or was it that in his gyrations to get on his feel the elephant rolled on the camers and simply crushed it to pies\ces? Additionally, noticing the great degree of difficulty the elepant had simply to get on his feet, I realise that his center of gravity is very high, too high for his real comfort. this also explains difficulties I have seen elephants having to negrtiate gangplanks to disembark from a circus train. Tey are afraid of falling, even without any threat of thrd party interference, let alone in prsence of "added complications"! It seems to me that nature did some real disservice to elephants by way of their evolution -sad! Another situation is that phase in the male elephants' sexual cycle where they , more or less, are driven nuts for that special period. Once again, even by way of the poor elephants' sexuality the male had been bealt a rotten evolutionalt blow? And then poachers want to steal their tusks! Ugh!

Did you bother to read the video description? They're protecting these creatures and it's entirely necessary to drug them to care for them, otherwise human life is at stake. Even with drugs, there is great risk.
