I shouldn't say this out loud, but I can see that you've recognized the nature of the beast, Chris. Not all, but a great many guitarists are not exactly the most upstanding of citizens. I remember a guy I helped out years back by installing a pickup in his Les Paul, for which he promised to pay me Tuesday. Six months and several phone calls later, I showed up at his doorstep with a set of nippers to take back that pup...amazingly, he found the money in short order.

One and two watt amps rock! There you have it.

I think Cornford were onto something with their 5w Harlequin and Carrera. Low wattage but driving 12 inch speakers in a larger cabinet. Being able to turn the valve power stage up is great fun.

I was once watching a Thunderf00t video where you went running on a treadmill and filmed himself with a thermal camera. What surprised him (and me) is that one of the places your body removes the most heat from are your forearms of all things. Last winter I tried an experiment where if I found myself where my toes or hands just could not warm up, I ran hot water over my forearms. Amazingly, it works brilliantly. Instant warmth over my entire body in just a few seconds.

In Sweden we had Hagström that imported all the amps in the 50’s 60’s and 70’s and they where also amp builders and they thought the death cap was idiotic so they always removed it! So you neeeever find that in a Swedish sold amp

Thank you for the awesome video! Could you show around the shop and maybe some tools you use the most and like? You use Hakko soldersucker. Maybe some useful stuff you particularly like?

Re the 1W difficult sell challenge- I’ve got a Cornell that has 4 stage power scaling down to less than 1W . Have you thought about making amps that have a low power mode eg 15W and 1W?

With amps with send/ return can the signal be fed into the power section directly to try to eliminate any problems at the pre or power amp section?

Would love to see a 15 watt stereo power amp... wonder if the modeller folks would be interested..

I do like your satin silver Tweed chassis. Never liked the original chrome ones! Or is it a faceplate? Seeing more of video - it's a faceplate 😅

I had a guy leave a TSL100 combo with me for a year. said it was bellowing smoke at a gig. I could find nothing wrong with it. Had another guy leave a Selmer T&B head about 15 years ago. messaged him up to four years after he left it, then gave up.

We have a law called the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977, which allows me to sell a piece of gear if left uncollcted for longer than 90-days, keep any costs for myself, and pass the remaining onto the customer when they finally get in contact.

have you ever thought about a valve DI box. and can you recommend any sources of information on running valves on lower voltage I.e. 48v Phantom power The normal specifications and characteristic graphs get a bit sketchy at lower voltages😊

Not possible to run off 48V need to supply heaters. 48v phantom power spec is 10mA.

Not sure if I am the only one experiencing the audio being quite low on this update? Might be also related to the testing of the freshly overhauled 69 50W and 73 100W JMP I did last weekend...🙄🙄

Shocked to hear that you have so many problems getting people to pick up their amp and pay when you've finished the job. Unfortunately, the gig scene isn't what it used to be - these people are clearly not gigging. While I always had a full time job (retired now), I have over 30 years gigging (full band, sound guy mixing out front) - most weekends at social clubs, weddings, functions etc mostly around Glasgow/central belt of Scotland. If we had an amp/etc issue we made damn sure it was handed in, fixed, paid for in full and collected asap, for obvious reasons. The scene was very different/busy then with many clubs/venues open for business. It's almost criminal that this scene has died out so much, with so many clubs shutting down their big halls for routine use. 'Two man bands with backing tracks' and social club etc committee backhanders the prime culprit initially, followed by today's relentless autotuned/Melodyned audio excrement indoctrination. It's a damn shame you can't seem to demand what was demanded by repair specialists in the past re payment etc.
