The Saturn backgrounds are really low res and even losing some animations. Before this video I always thought that there were not big differences.. i was wrong, here is a lot of difference.

Si así le fue a la versión de saturn con cartucho, no me quiero imaginar cómo le hubiera ido a la versión de ps1 si se hubiera elaborado. Aparte tiene abundantes tiempos de carga

Feels like the Saturn perfectly matched the Neo Geo when it comes to the fighters themselves and the foreground. The only place I can see a noticeable difference is in the backgrounds, which seem like they have a much higher resolution on Neo Geo. Great port in any case! Wish I had this one in my Saturn library, but I think it's pretty pricey nowadays.

The Saturn version of this game is sadly one of the worse home ports. Suffers from lower background resolution, and has a lot of slowdown. It's not a horrible port by any means, but it could have been better if they had optimized it more. The PS2 version is basically arcade perfect with zero slowdowns and all the graphics from the arcade are fully intact. The Saturn version is still worth owning if you are into collecting Saturn games though.

The game isn’t that pricey for the Saturn. You can get a copy for like $50.

Wow the NeoGeo Version is much better in graphic you can see it in the backrounds. The CD Sound from Saturn is better but the Saturn have loading times, so this round goes to NeoGeo Version as Winner.

Back in 1997 I couldn't see this game being released in the US for the home release. Even if the Saturn had more support the game would not of gained any appeal. In those days 2D gaming no matter good the quality was considered last generation. 3D polygons were way of the future. Especially involving Lara Croft's twin...pistol shooting action. Not to mention the warnings about flashing lights. Censorship involving Dandy J cigarettes in his hat among other things.

Caramba, apesar de em algumas músicas terem maior qualidade em som a versão de Saturn peça por muitos loadings, porém ainda está muito bonito apesar de estar inferior ao negro, alguém sabe se a versão de PS2 possui essas músicas de Saturn nas opções???

Estava na dúvida, acho que todos os volumes do NeoGeo Online Collection tem versões arranjadas, mas parece ter um porém, a música arranjada é diferente nessa versão, por conta de direitos autorais. I doubt you can tell on a crt but the scaled background looks lower res when scaled in on the saturn.

They’re lower resolution in general. That along with the sound was the compromise to get the character animations full probably.

@@Darknight0681 Yeah. I wondered if it is to do with the way the hardware works. The Saturn is scaling a single image and is limited by ram space. I suspect the Neo-geo is loading in new images to simulate scaling as it had insane bandwidth for its time and could stream from cart. I may be completely wrong though. So don't take this as 100% accurate.

It's a shame that the Saturn version doesn't have the 4MB RAM cartridge because that would have made it a perfect arcade version. But the Saturn version is still an excellent version.

It's not excellent at all. It's kinda subpar actually. Low resolution backgrounds and tons of slowdowns. Sunsoft screwed this one up for sure. The Saturn should be able to run this game arcade perfect like many other 2D titles on the systems I never understood why this port came out so bad like this.

The Saturn port is the only home console port and it sucks. It was going to be ported to the Neo Geo CD, but it got cancelled, despite KOF 98 and 99 got made for that console...

Tá aí um excelente jogo de luta ao mesmo estilo de Asuka 120%, Advanced VG2 e Power Instinct q poderiam fazer um port moderno e remaster no PS4 Pro e outros consoles atuais

Bem, essa versão de Neo Geo é do arcade, porém, acho que por ter o cartucho de RAM , os loadings do Saturn poderiam ser menores

For anyone familiar, this was not the Saturn's fault. SNK purposefully bottlenecked them. Saturn could have easily had a perfect port. Even so, I still prefer to play the Saturn version. Music sounds way too good to not prefer it.

This game should never have been an issue for the mighty Saturn. But it's inferior in every way compared to the original. Even the sound FX are lower quality and crackle. Whoever handled this port should be ashamed by the lack of effort here.

They were probably worried about loading times. The 1Mb or 4mb Ram cart would have fixed it.

It’s not a lack of effort. Game simply had to fit in that RAM and changes would have to be made. Neo Geo games even with the 1MB expansion still had cut animations and often times degraded sound. In this case they really wanted that character animation intact so the backgrounds and audio took the hit to fit it into RAM. Saturn without the extra RAM was better than PS1, but not by a whole world of a lot. Simply put, that era was just wholly underprepared to do anything 2D.

Also, the game DOES use the 1MB Cartridge, so that argument is out of the equation. They could’ve supported the 4MB cartridge, but I can see them not wanting to tack on that extra expense for a game that’s more or less niche even back then. Those cartridges back then weren’t cheap.

@@Darknight0681 Well yeh, the storage capacity of Neo Geo cartridges was basically like extra Ram, and made the Neo Geo look more powerful than it was compared to the Saturn and PS1. Although it was still amazingly impressive for a 1990 console still competing with 1997 CPS2 games. I can understand why Nintendo didn't want a CD system for the N64.

@@Darknight0681 I get what you are saying but effort is the key here, waku was not that more advanced than similar games on Saturn, i respect the ram limits of the Saturn , but they could have done better. They could have employed many more tricks to off set the ram limits on Saturn. 4mb ram would have been a start for this game as well as better memory management. There is no excuse for the half resolution back drops on Saturn.

Can't see that anyone has dared say it yet but... WW7 on the Saturn is trash, pretty much. Gameplay suffers bad slowdown, the backgrounds are super low res (really noticeable when played in person) and the last fight with Fernandeath is borderline unplayable too.
