Hey John! Great video and shave! Nice to see you use your Wald J1… seems like you’re getting more and more comfortable with it each shave. Everything you said pretty much applies to my J1 too… The only difference is that yours seems like it opens up easier than mine. But that could also be the result of yours being broken in more… mine only has like 4 uses on it. Either way, I’m really digging mine and happy to have it…. This might be one of those brushes (like my B1) where I just can’t ever see myself getting rid of it. Great job man!

yeah it being broken is very well a possibility! I would give it 5 more uses and see how the knot changes. glad you also like it though.Since it's unique in terms of face feel I am also inclined to keep it. Thanks for stopping by brother!

Have the J1#2 and used it for 8 shaves in a row (and more times later)… just an awesome brush. How you said: Stratos-shape looks uncomfortable, but its just smooth and comfortable while lathering up. After those many tests, I can say, it‘s up with my best premium knots, although it‘s the first version of his handtied knot. Also had a few of his first brushes, the quality is perfect. The artisan is really a perfectionist and so is his finish👌

That's awesome. yeah I am looking forward to see what else he has in store, but good to know I am not alone in how I feel about the brush. thanks for watching take care

Great brush. I have one from his early works. It's designed to fit A&E Asian Pear. He made it on his drilling machine. It's amazing! Only downside, it has no coin. Greetings from Germany, Jens

That sounds like an awesome brush! especially since he made it from a drilling machine. I think it stands to the German quality we should expect ;) take care

@@johnshaves1996 it is! If you are in FB in the big groups you can see it. Stunning brush 😄 but only with a synthetic knot. He didn't do his own knots than.

J2 looks gellier and less dense in comparison to J1. Agreed on the knot density -- glad Jannik accounts for lather release when creating the knot. Hmm, if BE tends to have higher backbone, may reduce the urge to grab one....
@TheZellla3 жыл бұрын
That‘s right. The J1 isn‘t into the gel tips trend, the J2 has them
@johnshaves19963 жыл бұрын
Yeah you might not like the BE if you prefer less backbone as most of them tend to have more. Jannik is doing a great job so far though

Hey John, I'm looking into getting my first badger brush. Any recommendations? I prefer to face lather. Your lathers are always excellent - keep it up!

I dunno about fan knots. I like the feel of bulbs better. 😄. Apple SUCKS as a scent. LMAO. And Skittles was wrong for replacing the lime flavor with the stupid green apple flavor. ☹️ Nice shave, John!
@johnshaves19963 жыл бұрын
thats fair I feel bulbs get a bad rap nowadays but they can be very good! Also Apple is great lol. thats tough id like both? 😆

Great shave. That Wald is a beauty, love the unique handle shape and color and that knot sounds really nice.

Kais and Feathers are the way to go for mild razors; if I remember right, it is not only that they are sharper, but they are also a tad wider than other blades which increases the exposure and can really change a razor. That brush looks incredible, I have one with a tall loft as well, and not only I think it looks great, but I enjoy it when I have little to no growth as it is like a big cloud. Great vid.
@johnshaves19963 жыл бұрын
I have heard the feathers are sharpest and although the Kai is not as sharp, it is fractions of a mm wider. Thank you man it does feel like a big cloud indeed! take care

Hello, how are you? I am a permanent follower of your channel. I have several questions that I hope you will answer me quickly. I used all kinds of shaving brushes, but I could not continue to use badger hair because it affects my skin because it is stinging. I now use the brushes with synthetic hair, they are distinctive and give a large and dense foam quickly and softly on the face. Sometimes I use pig brushes after soaking. I like and prefer to use shaving soap that is placed in a box. Is it possible that if we close the soap box before it is completely dry, it will become moldy?
@johnshaves19963 жыл бұрын
Hey Imad. everyone has different needs and preferences, so if you prefer the synthetics there is nothing wrong with that. You always want to make sure it is completely dry before closing . if there is trapped water there is an increased possibility mold can form so better safe than sorry. I would leave it open for 12-24 hours at least
