This thing is amazing for ambient stuff but I've heard it's really difficult to program and dive through the menus.

It's not too bad really. Every thing is pretty laid out. It takes a little effort but you'll be making sounds in no time.

Looking back at the Blofeld I am happy I sold mine very soon after I got it. The polyphony is limited, the UI is relatively clunky, and the switches don't last very long. Worst of all, replacing even a single switch means you have to replace all encoders too, because the knobs are glued on. That's right, instead of a peg with a notch, they're just all round pegs and the knobs are fixed into place with epoxy. This is why all the "switch replacement kits" come with microswitches and a complete set of encoders, since the chances of you disassembling the thing with all encoders remaining intact are slim.

Well, if you didn't like it that's fine, however you are not correct regarding the knobs. They are not glued on and can be removed. In fact, if you want to remove the mainboard from the unit this must be done. I removed mine and it took (quite) some force, but they are not glued on and no epoxy is used. Regarding your opinion about polyphony, it depends what on considers 'limited'. All synthesisers are limited and this one, that is a ten year old design, isn't even that limited. And it is multitimbral, which most synths aren't, even today. Same goes for the UI. If it doesn't work for you, that's fine. However that doesn't mean the UI -is- clunky, that's just what -you- feel about it. There is a reason these are still being produced and sold. It would suggest people actually like this synth. 10 years is an eternity for these devices and few can claim that. I wish Waldorf would create a Blofeld successor, based on the latest technology. It's a shame they seem to focus on the expensive market.

@@skullhqx ill never sell mine, in fact i think its the only thing i will bring with me when i die. but "limited polyphony", i didnt hear this word to often, most of us have only 10 fingers.
